Anime Help.

Okay, I've watched/enjoyed the following anime;

Soul Eater
Elfen Lied
Angel Beats
Devil May Cry Series
Chobits
The Wallflower

And a few other I can't remember. Is there something similar between the plots/story line between all of them? Is it a certain publisher? I'm just curious to know if there's a similarity between them all that will help me find more anime that I'd enjoy. Anyone have any insight? Or recommendations? Thanks.

3 out of 4 of those anime seem to have sort of a "Battle with the occult" theme to them. So if I were to suggest watching anything like that, it'd have to be Ao no (Blue) Exorcist.

Nice, I am seeing a trend.
check out baccano and mushishi. Cause I'm guessing you watched them all on netflix :P
Awesome, and yep I like to watch anime on Netflix. I will make a exception like when I watched "The Wallflower".

Note: I don't know much about what netflix has, I'm not sure if most of these series will be up on netfix

These are from Shonen Gangan (the publisher of Soul Eater):
 • Toaru Majutsu no Index (along with the Railgun spin-off and Index II)
 • Fullmetal Alchemist (FMA Brotherhood follows the manga storyline while the original has a different story; you can watch both if you want)
These ones are from Key (the Visual Novel company that created Angel Beats)
 • Clannad + its sequel (one of my personal favorites, but unlike Angel Beats, it's hardcore school-life romance. Also, a different animator worked on it.)
 • Air or Air TV (pretty much like the above; hardcore romance and a different animator. Story-line might be difficult to understand.)
Some other non-related series:

Key did Angel beats?(what i found out with research was they did the animation and orchestration. well goes to show wikipedia is as unreliable as always)

The same writer wrote Kanon, Clannad, Air and Angel Beats!
The first three were visual novels first.
They're all good, though Clannad is still the king of them.
They're all published by Key. No idea if they're the developers. I only remember the Key logo in the VNs though...

Fate/Stay Night has a pretty great storyline and pretty awesome action. Completely recommended. It's action/drama/romance (has a bit of comedy here and there).

+1 for Darker than BLACK

Phantom ~Requiem for the phantom~ (just call it Phantom). This is drama/romance/action and it is HEAVY. There is very, very little comedy. There's pretty much one segment in the story where comedy is allowed, the rest of the time you'll be screaming "SCYTHEMASTER!" at the screen.
It's very well done and the action is also very interesting (it's about assassins dammit!).

Before I continue....(or I might just edit more answers in later).
Just in general, what do you like to watch?
Action? Romance? Comedy? Drama?
If it's any of those I have a library of fantastic anime to list, lol.

I'm not sure I can help with this, because I've been watching school anime for the past few months.

Unrelated: Eden of the East, it's on Netflix, it's AMAZING, and it's also only 11 episodes.

Also, +1 Baccano. Also on Netflix, also 11 episodes (not counting the OVA) and also AMAZING.

I wouldn't say any of them is bad and if I haven't finished many yet it doesn't mean they are bad either. Just prefer to play the vidya gaemz. (Also because of not being able to use speakers for anime and me not liking headphones/headsets)

But I would recommend you to watch exceptionally high rated ones first, higher than average.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. I'm into action/comedy. Preferable both in one anime.

Well if you're looking for two that are genuinely funny and action-y, One Piece is great for that. It can carry a storyline, and rarely resorts to comedy in battle, though when it does it's pretty funny. Plus, every crew members' flashback is SO FREAKIN' SAD, Eiichiro Oda did an amazing job with the flashbacks, all of them are really well done and really sad, and they only get sadder as the story progresses.

Also, I'm going to recommend Dragon Ball Kai and Dragon Ball Z the manga, that way you won't have a show that's too long, but still really good.

If that's what you're looking for, Blue exorcist would be perfect. It's got just the right balance of comedy and action.

If you want something more comedy oriented, then I recommend Beelzebub. Never before have I laughed at an anime so much. :mthr:

I don't really see much of a trend in your anime taste.....

Here's some anime that i am certain, you'll enjoy! :

Full Metal Alchemist ()
Baccano! (interesting)
Darker than Black (essentails)
Black Lagoon (enjoyed it)
Gintama (fucking awesome anime is fucking awesome!)

Well that drops a lot of my top animes off the list...lol. I'm a drama fanatic.
You could try When They Cry.
:3
It has comedy in it. It's also got some blood and gore. Pretty fantastic thing to watch overall.

Shakugan No Shana. Action/comedy and a bit of drama but not a ton.

Tales of the Abyss (the game is better but it still follows the story really well). Action/comedy with a bit of drama.

Utawarerumono. Action (nothing super good but it's there), comedy and drama (gets a lot more dramatic near the end).

Tears to Tiara. Action, comedy and a bit of drama (are you seeing a trend with my anime yet? lol)

Hanamaru Kindergarten. Just do it.

Clannad. I just finished watching that yesterday and it was amazing. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Strawberry Panic if you are into yuri.
Grave of The Fireflies (a movie - a very sad one at that)
Love Hina (a harem, but not as tasteless as you'd think - the manga IS better though)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series
Cowboy Bebop (a fun and comedic look on the lives of 4 space bounty hunters - good stuff)
FLCL (A very strange anime, but a very good one too)
Read or Die (This is an OVA consisting of only 3 episodes that clock in at about a half hour each - its got a very unique and interesting story and a very likable lead character)
Highschool of the Dead (This is a really fun anime to watch. The characters aren't all that amazing, and there is gratuitous amounts of unnecessary fanservice, but past that its a fun and enjoyable anime filled with zombie killing action)

These others are "Slice of Life" animes, which many people love and others hate (I personally love the genre):

Ika Musume ("Squid Girl", the plot is like that of Sgt Frog except its a squid girl wanting to invade... not a frog)
Lucky Star (If you get past the first infamous "food episode", a very funny and enjoyable anime awaits you)
K-ON! (Similar to Lucky Star except the cast of characters are united through the "Light Music" club.)

And to see what can happen when you mix everything that can go wrong with an anime in a blender:

EIKEN (So bad... SO BAD. But so bad you will laugh your a-- off. Its a tasteless harem with overly large breasts - only 2 episodes thank god)

Hope this helps!

EDIT: My friend says "Princess Tutu is the sh-t". Haven't watched it, but there you go!
Also, another user said "Fate/Stay Night". Even though I haven't watched the anime yet, I am reading the visual novel and it is AMAZING. There is also a lot of action in there as well, and Saber is a badass.
EDIT AGAIN: Just finished Fate/Stay Night (visual novel) ... EPIC STUFF. Highly recommended.

Hmm I'm quite interested in Blue Exorcist, how many episodes is it because it looks like something I'd enjoy.

As for the OP; you seem to enjoy the same sort of anime i do (comedy/action) so I'd recommend you check out To Aru Majetsu No Index (Project Index)

It really is a great anime
