Accidentally stole from a guy. Waitwut

So I went to Disc Replay today (used game store) to look around for some games, after withdrawing $400 which I owed my dad (wasn't planning to use any of that money for games, just my own leftover cash), and as I'm looking around, I see some guys come in with a stack of games and an original Xbox, kinda interested at the collection.

What really caught my eye though, was a Dreamcast copy of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver sitting on top of their stack, and I'm like "HOLY SHIT". So I come right up to the guy, and tell him I'd buy it from him right there, right now. And he's like "cool", and we worked out a deal for $15. Oh, I also bought a Japanese God of War Collection and Uncharted 2.

Now, I had to use some of the cash meant for my dad, which put it at $385. So I get home, and give that to my dad, letting him know the amount. He tells me that there's still 4 $100 bills, and I think I'm hearing things, responding with a "Wait... wut?". And then tells me there's a total of $435.

And I realize. OH SHIT. I JUST TOOK THIS GUY'S MONEY.

Man, it's always something with me. : P

The same thing happened to me :P
I was buying a movie ticket and i suppose to get 3 dollars change because i paid with a 20 dollar bill. Instead the lady gave my 20 dollar bill and the 3 dollars ontop of that bill to me as change, I dont think she noticed lawl

this morning i was serving an old lady who was buying a $35 cd player and she gave me a 50 so i gave her the $15 change... as i was handing it over i realized i'd accidentally put my hand one slot to the left and given her a 10 and a 20 :(
(luckily we both noticed at the same time and she laughed it off as i swapped the 20 for a 5)

i was under the impression that the B in BIMDAS would only apply to things inside the brackets and that x(y) would be considered multiplication
eg:
48%2(9+3)
1) 48%2(12)
2) 24(12)
3) 288

Also, what does the I stand for?
E stands for exponents.

maybe you guys are just taught a different acronym
when i was in school i got
Brackets
Indices
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction

I had an older guy give me $50 extra today at work, it was stuck the the back of a $20 (must've been fairly new money) I gave it back, hoping that he would say "Since you're so honest, you can keep it."

Oh well.

In the US as a whole, it's just PEMDAS. Nobody calls exponents "indices" here. We also generally use parentheses for all forms of math rather then brackets.

Using PEMDAS, the equation would be as follows:
48÷2(9+3)= ? - Solve the parentheses first
48÷2(12)= ?
Next, we just take the division and multiplication in order. With PEMDAS, multiplication and division are just taken in order of appearance, then addition and subtraction are taken in order by their appearance. It doesn't matter which comes first, thus:

24(12)= 288

My TI-83 Plus returns the exact same answer for the same reason.

At my school, we've never needed to learn any sort of word to remember that since we can do just as good without it.

Stuff like PEMDAS is usually taught at about the midpoint in the US (pre-algebra for me) for schooling. Past pre-algebra, no teacher has ever brought it up again.
