Stray's gamer AMA

I doubt there are enough people on this site who regularly interact with me to make this successful, but I'm curious- Ask away with anything you'd like. I'll answer literally anything.

@Sophie-bear I'd have to say, through a lot of debate, it's the original Xbox with the N64 and Wii literally just a millimeter behind. It was a huge staple of my childhood, both messing around after school on my own with JSRF, Path of Neo, and Colin McRae Rally 04, and hanging out on weekends with friends, playing Halo 1 and 2, Burnout 3, Nightfire, just countless games that shaped a lot of my brain in the future. And, even though I don't have to answer it, my favorite generation is the 6th. Xbox, Dreamcast, PS2 and Gamecube. Millions of memories, and a great homebrew scene (except for the Gamecube, it's pretty lackluster 'cause the Wii does it all)

@JuanMena Well, let's get the easiest part out of the way- I'm a guitarist. I play guitar, bass, drums, keys, vocals, and I do audio engineering, but primarily, I'm a guitarist. "Stray" sort of came from my feline persona, and my love of the wilderness. Before I moved out of my grandparents' house, I'd often strap a silver-string acoustic on my back and walk deep into a forest, and just play in nature. It also came from being initially abandoned by my parents, I felt like a stray animal in a shelter. Now, I have a great relationship with my mom, but there's also the final layer- One of the main people who inspired me to get into music, and guitar specifically was Brian Setzer, and his hit single Stray Cat Strut. I played blues and jazz for a while before getting into the ambient and progressive metal that mainly rules my compositions nowadays as a result.

@banjo2 Gosh, that's hard. There's not a lot of series I love the lore of but not the gameplay of, too.. But I think I'm gonna have to go with Magic the Gathering. The card game is fun, yes, but the lore is crazy awesome. Expressed through card art, flavor text, and the comics, it's my favorite part of it all, even down to building decks based specifically on lore events, hehe..

@OldBoi Not exactly- I'm pansexual! I do lean a teensy bit towards straight, I love guys, but I would never look a hot chick in the mouth, y'know? Plus feminine guys and masculine girls are uniquely hot, too, ehe~

@ChicoPancho I like the Switch, although I do think it has some flaws. Its presentation is bland, joy-con drift stops me from really endorsing the console. It does have some of my favorite games of all time, though.

And as of Sonic, I have a lot of good memories of playing the games, but they're so deeply frustrating to play nowadays. I do love the characters, and all of the animated shows, though, hehe.

@banjo2 Not yet. I usually play with a pro controller, and I haven't used my joy-cons since my left one broke (can't afford to replace it right now), and the last time they had drift, I just sent them into Nintendo for repairs. When I replace the leftie, I'm gonna do it as soon as they start drifting again.

@Scott_pilgrim How the hell can I answer that? There's things like Halo: CE, Burnout 3, and Pokemon Silver that are absolutely amazing games to me and were pivotal pieces of my development, but are somewhat flawed upon playing them again. Not bad at all, I still get a TON of fun out of them, but I can't deny their flaws. Then there's stuff like TF2, Black Ops 2: Zombies, and Starbound- Games that I played when I was younger, but I still actively play them nowadays-- moreso than Burnout 3 and Pokemon Silver, anyways. They're games I have a lot of fun with, but it's hard to tell if that's because they're good games, or because I started playing them when I was more willing to cope with frustrating mechanics, and they became normalized in my mind, resulting in me seeing them as minorly flawed but overall still a ton of fun. I don't have the new perspective required to create a full vision in my mind and really separate if the game is overall "good". And that raises my next point: To call a game my "favorite", I feel that I must make a statement about not only my preferences, but my personality, my thought process, and the unique way I come to conclusions when judging a product, or situation. This results in me feeling I need to find a game that is "the best" in my mind- objectively the best from my perspective, not just one that I feel like I've had the most fun with recently, or liked overall, or for the longest time or whatever. If I absolutely must choose, then I think I might say Halo: Reach. A game with a fun campaign mode, an insane sandbox mode, a fun PvE mode you can play alone or with friends, tons of competitive content, and a crazy cool customization setup that finally introduced the ability to play as a female Spartan.
