After months of waiting, my Boxypixel GBA SP shell came in the mail!

I did the IPS screen, metal buttons, a bigger 1700mAh battery, and magnetic USB C charging. I also took the battery mod a step further and added in male and female JST connectors for easy battery replacements in the future. Pretty much all mods were done except for the headphone jack. I've waited so fucking long to build this thing, and it's an absolute thing of beauty!

Thanks. I know the L and R look gray, but I went with "clear black" and think they look pretty good.

why do these blogs feel automatically generated

I prefer the SP's original clamshell design but wow, that looks nice.

If I add wireless charging, I would need a 3D-printed battery cover because it won't penetrate the metal. Still easy to do, just not worth it to me for an inferior backplate.

Hot damn that's hot. Drop a post in the WTS forum if you ever think about doing these to order, I'd probably be interested.

Looks nice, but that og GBA is just amazing on the hands. Plus I really like the screen being in the center for whatever reason, I dunno why. Obviously the clamshell design is objectively better simply because of the enhanced practicality, but I just prefer that way. The dual screens on the ds and 3ds lines give me the best of both worlds, which is why I primarily play GBA games on 3ds. I guess I'm just weird like that

I like both the vertical and horizontal GBA formfactors, but the original SP just isn't ergonomically comfortable for me, and this Boxypixel shell gives me a great base to hold onto. It feels premium, and the buttons perform amazingly well. It passed my Super Mario Land test. (I play the entire game until I beat it, and if I can, it passes my "these buttons feel great" test.)

I love this shell. Every time I see it I think I should get one, until I consider how little I play GBA games as it is. Hope you continue to enjoy it.

I love it because it actually FEELS like the ULTIMATE GAMEBOY, since it plays all 3 libraries of Gameboy games.

I just realized this IPS kit only has 6 brightness steps instead of 10, and doesn't get as bright as other's I've bought... Wonder why that is. I bought directly from Funnyplaying's website. It's much dimmer at full brightness compared to my green Zelda-themed SP's ISP kit.
