I'm a father now...

Okay : title speaks for itself. Today (and most of the day) my girlfriend and me went into the hospital. She went into labor, and after a whole ordeal, she gave birth to our daughter.

Interesting times are ahead... :)

Wonder if that burger helped, but good stuff you didn't have to do the whole "extended hospital stay".
Goncartulacions and enjoy Daddy duty.

You better be good father and take care of your daughter like wipe off her poop and feed her and baby her to sleep. No needed for mothers who does everything to children than dads does. Many dads are lazy and are not good fathers to children.

Hello "fresh baked" Father.:)

How was your first Week ?

(Leaves Space for 27 Pages......)

:D

Are you all still well and healthy ?

Everything ok with the Central Heating ?

Thank you.:)

Thanks for the congratulations (and especially @alexander1970).

Our girl is indeed a week old now (and three hours). Everything's still fine on just about all areas.

As for the renovations... It was tough. I mean : we thought we had time until around the 27th,and suddenly that time was shortened to just three days two Tuesdays ago. I had to call in all help I could get (both my parents and parents - in - law) as well as take up spare vacation time, but it had to.

That central heating got fixed. It was a close call, as I had no idea that my plan would work (put extra cables through the dry wall), but it did. After that, we had a few more days to get the final room done. That worked as planned, even though it'll be a storage for the coming 6 months (our baby still sleeps with us for now).

Last Friday I accompanied my girl in the hospital. And the same for the next three days, actually. Our little girl is nice, but nurturing her often takes more than two hands. Luckily... I don't know how it is in other countries, but I get 10 days 'father vacation' from my work.

So... That's the situation right now. Girlfriend is giving breast milk just about every two hours (even at night). I assist her in that or handle our child myself.

Enjoy that last purchased game, from here on in it's 'Diaper Derby' all the way...

P.S. Your life (and wife/gf) is about to change in ways you can't possibly imagine.

@alexander1970 : hello to you to, and thanks (yet again) for the inquiry. Always nice to hear that people are interested in more than just video games. :P

As for how we are: well...we're very fine, actually. Like I told my colleagues and family: of course I never wish this sort of pandemic to anyone...but if you really had one coming, I honestly couldn't think of a better time than now.
I'm put on "economical unemployment", as one of the just over 1 million other Belgians (read: our job isn't crucial enough). Well...I do work from home for one day, but for anything else I'm on my own.

The first days I had some mixed feelings (why isn't my job important enough for teleworking?), but since I got my 'one day's work' I see that there is barely anything left to do, as most of our company is forced into closing. The good half was that I got to spend more time with our little girl. Way more time, actually. Giving her her bottle and changing diapers is something I do at least half of the time now, and often more (my girlfriend's using suction cups for mother milk, so she has those tasks). The large renovations are done, but household chores, our baby and small tasks allow us to fill up days without being bored. Oh, and while karate is put on hold I'm seriously picking up jogging again (clocked in just over 11 kilometers a few hours ago).

My brother wasn't so lucky: his girlfriend has a bad back and his ability to work from home is seriously hindered by his 2 children (3 and 5) who need lots of attention. But they do start to be able to be distracted by me and our parents through skype, so that problem is...I'm not sure if I can already dismiss it as "solved", but it's going in a good direction.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same about my brother-in-law (the friend of my girlfriend's sister). He had a horrible accident where he lost most of his fingers on his right hand. He's currently doing fine for the situation he's in, but again: it's all but good.

But for the corona virus itself? Two (independent) friends MIGHT have (had) it. That is to say, they have the symptoms but not to a degree that they need to rush to the hospital. And as such, they aren't yet tested.
We do not know anyone directly put in the hospital yet (well...my girlfriend has some vague acquantaince who died of it. But it's like those "the uncle of the neighbor of the guy cleaning the nearby pub" sort of acquaintance).

Also: just today, our government announced 2 more weeks of full effect lockdown (so until May 3rd). Was within expectations, so no real surprises. I won't deny being worried about my job, but I guess this goes for about half the country at this point. :(

How are you, by the way? Are you and your loved ones staying safe? :)

Thank you for yor kind and very frank Lines,my Friend.I really appreciate your Openness.:)

You had a lot to do the last Weeks. To "help" beloved People in this Situation is very, very brave and admirable.
Everyone mainly looks at themselves, so,wow, really stunning.
I am very sorry for your Brother s Situation.I can understand that only too well.He can be lucky to have a Brother like you on his Side.

This is a really terrible Experience for your brother-in-law ....
This is "life changing" .... I am very sorry ....
But he has you at his "Side",so he can count himself lucky.
You really are a great guy, my Friend. Your Family and Friends can be very proud of you
... and of course you too of yourself. :)

I am very glad to hear your Family is well and all is "ok" (according to the Circumstances). To see you 3 are a real Family,to see the little Life growing.
Thank you.:)

About the Job Situation...yes this is really a little unpleasant since nobody knows really when and importantly "if at all" can we go to work again...

My Wife (works in the local Kindergarten) is a bit "better" Job secured, she has the "written promise" from the municipality to be reinstated when all is going to normal again...
For me (Child´s Day care) it can be going a little less smooth, but I am hoping the Best for the next Months.:)
We are both well and happy,we managed the last Weeks together...with a lot of Fun and Love...and a lot of good Food.:D

All of this will eventually come to an End and in a few Months we may even be able to laugh again about what Life was like in "solitary Confinement and Isolation".:)

I wish you and your Family and your beloved People all the Best and Health.

Thank you.:)
