Gameboy Micro plastic internals

Hi everyone interested in Gameboy Micro’s!
I have 1 Gameboy Micro that doesn’t really closes well because of the plastic internals that broke on some points like the screwholes and the front plate tab locker.. I have been looking for internals, but without succes.. I wondered if they could be 3d printed? Does anybody know these problems and might have a sollution, please let me know!

ps: Is it normal that it’s a pain in the ass trying to find a (original) eu wall charger for the GBM? The only type i can find is the usb cable..

yeah I have a GBA micro with the faceplate clip broken, I just used a little bit of double sided tape, this was done before I had a 3D printer, I would imagine it would be fairly simple to 3D print a replacement

as for the wall charger yeah they will be pretty uncommon as gameboy micro's are also pretty uncommon so there isn't that much demand, there are GBA SP to micro adapters around though, although the USB charger is probably more practical, you could always get a USB cable and open up a GBA SP charger and solder a snipped USB cable into it if its some sort of OCD desire to have an original looking charger

Thanks for the reply @gamesquest1 !

Yeah i’ll keep my eyes open for a 3d file, who knows someone will upload such a file.. :teach:

Lol i wouldn’t go that far to have an original looking wall charger. I guess i’ll have to get a usb cable until I stumble upon an original one :)

Ooh cool!! So you have printed some stuff right? I think that if you could print the micro internals, you could make some money.. there must be loads of people interested in the part..

ok I just took apart my GBAm and I didn't realise the faceplate brackets were part of the whole frame  I would've thought they would've made them a small separate piece, honestly i'm not too sure if I will be able to make the whole frame part, I will probably give it a try but to be brutally honest the amount of details and stuff on it i'm not too confident in my abilities to replicate it will probably take a whole bunch of trial and error, I was thinking I could just make a little clip in piece that sits in the space where the clips snapped off that do the same job but aren't parts of the full housing so if/when they snap again its super easy to replace

It’s a horrible thing, especially when you notice that your tabs are broken.. it isq very detailed I know and easy to break! That is probably one of the reasons it’s still not really out there.
You should think about it whether to go through the trial and error road.. I don’t know how much plastic you’ll have to use etc.
I guess the idea with two separate clips could work well too! I hope you can succeed in realizing such clips!! I’ll be the first to order your clips lol! :D Goodluck!

Just Spitballing here...
I have a GB Micro but never opened it: could he use a piece of plastic, pre tap the threads in a small piece of random plastic (tiny washer size), glue it in, and put it all back together so it would work like a [glued in] washer/nut, only pre-tapped/threaded? Not sure if I made myself clear, though I can picture it. Use the screw to create the threading in the made-up washer/nut before gluing it in? Can be crazy glued, But see note first

Note: which can always be removed with acetone, as long as it's not done to other (important/cheap) plastic, test plastic with acetone first if there's any chance you might want to remove as acetone can melt certain cheap plastics.

I totally got you @Redhorse !! That is a good idea! But tbh, i’m not really excited about getting it open again.. i think there are 2 screws that dont screw in, but all by all, it’s closed pretty good.. as for the frontplate i’ll try to make some kind of tab.. otherwise just doubleside tape the frontplate if the tab locking thing doesn’t work. Thanks anyway for the tip @Redhorse ! :D

If anyone does it please do. It's the only thing we need to get to save out GameBoy Micro's lives.
Plastic internals 3D print model or aluminium frame for max.$20 from AliExpress for example... Please someone do it.
