The Value of Life

I have learned a valuable lesson today. A very valuable lesson I will carry on for the rest of my life. The value of life.

Life is irreplaceable. Especially the life you hold dear to you. I knew and believed this before today, but it was never reinforced into me. Today it has been.

My sister almost died today.
I hold her very dear to me, and if she had died, I don't know what I would of done. It hurts me typing these words right now.

So I just wanted to remind you all, to remember the people you hold dear to you. Hug them, call them, tell me you love them. Because you don't know if they will be here tomorrow.

Hello.
My condolences for your painful loss. In such a situation, words can not describe what happened there.
This is a very personal and close story of you.Thank you for your openness and for the Experience you go through.
I wish you all the best for you and for your future life.

Thank you.:)

In a way, I'm glad you got a lesson in life. The lesson was a very different kind of lesson that most people don't experience until late adulthood, but it seems as if this was beneficial to you.

I'm glad you saw the deeper meaning, without having the some of the deepest feelings attached to it.

I am glad your sister did not pass away.
as a piper, I perform at funerals regularly (sometimes several times a week). I am constantly reminded: life is finite, make the most of each day, love your family and tell them so (hug them!)
As they said in The Fifth Element "Time not important. Only life important."

Dang, life is brutal man. Can I ask what happened or is it better left unsaid.... Nevertheless, life is a gift from God but it doesn't take much to end it. I can't imagine how scary that was, but I'm glad she made it.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
