How do people go with linux...

I'm not trying to rant about linux or anything but it feels like a large pain to work with. I can't seem to get usb persistence so my settings and shit save. I also can't seem to get installation of programs to always work, which is made worse by how I can't even have them stay when they do install. Why does this have to be so frustrating... why do the good things in life have to treat me like this

You are running off a Live CD, you need to install it

If you are running Ubuntu/Mint, there will be an option "Install alongside Windows" once in the setup, choose that if you have Windows installed and want to dual boot

I find Mint with Cinnamon to be a good OOTB distro....but I'm doing anything but the basics I tend to go with Cent OS (but that's for more advanced stuff e.g. Oracle DB, etc.).

Another great begginer-friendly distro is Gentoo, installs in no time at all, comes with a nice interface, powerful package manager etc

In case you haven't tried it yet, Universal USB Installer allows you to set a persistent file system for live (K/L/X)Ubuntu USB installs. Not sure if persistent file systems are also supported via UUI for other distros tho.

fun with linux and how I can't install chrom apparently

also, it's actually installed this time

I dunno, it feels real buggy on my laptop, I did end up getting ubuntu, the only issue is that how alot of applications don't seem to have 32 bit support on linux unlike on windows

I did install it to a the hard drive and this laptop is so old and shitty that it can't support 64 bit cpu, I have a excellent pc but I need to find the money to buy a laptop and not rely on one that was a gift

well for your Chromium that's good, it means that the key is inserted and verified in your comp, then do a sudo apt-get install chromium to install your browser.

For 32-bit PC and a little comp with not big resources, I'll consider to use the MATE branch of Ubuntu. Seems user-friendly to me, so you may try and see :)
