This is the reason why you shouldn't NEVER lend a console to a friend.

I gave my NDS to a friend. It was in excelent conditions, and now he fucked up my NDS and is horrible as fuck.

THE STORY:

Sometimes I go with my 4 DSes to my school just for play with my friends on free time. (Most time we played Mario Kart DS) (My friend name is Kevin) So, Kevin asked to me "Hey, I know you have a lot of consoles, can I have your NDS for a while? I just want to play some games!"
Then I said: "Well, why not?" Just I said to him "TAKE CARE OF MY CONSOLE LIKE IF WAS YOUR SOUL!"
He said "Yeah yeah blah blah, trust me!"

Then, I didn't had my blue NDS like 3 months. But the problem here comes:

He (I don't know if he was lying or nah) said his brother picked up the NDS while he was sleeping. And guess what? Yeah, it throw it. That damn brother...!

He broke the case where is the upper screen.

So, Kevin said to me on Whatsapp that happend. I said "Eh, just put KolaLoka on the broken case".

After that happend, and the next day, he borrow my Nintendo DS, and I took a look on the NDS.

for the love of godness, it was HORRIBLE. The glue was on the (most) part of the case of the NDS. I said "What the fuck Kevin"

He said his bother did that. I can't believe it. My NDS fucked up by someone?! That's right.
So, I got angry, and I took my NDS back to me. Then I said:
"I trusted on you! You said I could trust you on this!! And now looks how looks my NDS!"

He said yeah sorry blah blah blah. So, eh, I wasn't too angry this time. It was just glue and a little bit broken.

But after I took a look again on the DS. The screens was scratched like if a cat scratched it! the screens was new, even had a screen protector. But he took off the screen protector.

Luckly, he had the broken case where was it. So, I can repair it later, I'll just put KolaLoka here carefully. So, basically, my NDS was like new, the screens was new too. And now, he gave me my NDS horrible. What the fuck?!
Eh, anyway, glad to know he didn't broke fully my NDS.

Sadly, I think I don't have photos of my NDS before this happend. This is it now it looks:

See that horrible glue here? Well, there is where he broke it. He tried to fix it, but he just fucked up, The screens are now scratched, and had a screen protector (both screens) and the case is dirty asf. I don't know what he did to my NDS. But I'm glad I have it back.

Anyway, glad I have my NDS back. The only problem with my NDS is I don't like how looks now... and it was the NDS I used a lot...

Good ol' Kevin.

Jokes aside I'd make him pay for repairs, even if it was his brother that did the damage, it was your friends full responsibility. Any good friend should pay up, especially since I don't think it would cost that much (even NDS's near me are just a 1000 yen)

and what does it matter if it was his brother, his uncle, or his pet dog?
he still was and is responsible for it.

I can't believe when assholes pull excuses as "my neighbour's koala mistook it for an eucalyptus leaf and chewed it up". Who cares, you either replace it for a new one or commit Seppuku right away, show some honor bitch!

I remember I did something like this to a kids GBA SP once. He lent me it and for awhile I avoided giving him the system back. I then told him I dropped it in the toilet but really I just kept the system. I gave him my gba link cable and a couple of useless games I didn't care for to make it up to him. Point being, never lend your stuff to anyone. (Also this was years ago and I felt bad but the kid did try to steal my bike so yeah revenge is sweet)

I stopped lending games to friends after I lost a couple (including my favourite game which would be years before I could get again).

working yet not, you must make he pay for the damage, a lot of people are like it's not me and I don't care but was at they care, and if something happen its their fault, even if was his dog, parrot, brother or earthquake (ok earthquake is something you could be comprehensive for the damage not really being his fault ...)

I have a similar problem ... the history was that I traded my old nds for a psp since I wasn't using it in a while and my 3DS could play DS if I wanted so there it goes...
but I haven't used much the psp because I was busy, a guy asked to borrow and never give it back :T he totally stole it, sent em a message telling that it broke the screen and was in the repair (funny that my answer never got " delivered" on that whatsapp, and was not the number I know from him too ...) but yeah, he know that I know how to fix these things so it's obviously a lie... I'm more mad for trusting him than losing the psp actually
I shouldn't have even traded my dslite to start with.. but like I'm, I would have this stolen instead lol

yeah people have to learn to handle stuff with care, especially when it is not their own stuff.

It is allways sad when they never learned this lesson from their Parents ... now as a good friend you need to play the part to Teach him ;)
I hate people like this as well, similiar stuff happened a lot to me when I was younger (getting stuff back brocken or scratched) while I allways tried to give the stuff back at least as good as before if not even better XD (sometimes I even cleaned the borowed stuff before giving it back)

when the subject is lending stuff to others my friens tell about his japanese MK64, he lend to a guy that whith no knowledged about n64 reion lock, just cut the cart out, without asking him, and gave it bck likeit was nothing ... I know it was common in that time to do this .. but why don't mod the 64? would be easier and one time by console, not each and every sad japanese cart :v

I'm kind mad because I got my knowledge about N64 reapirs and stff too late, like fixing analogs or removing the region lock from the console... I could have been a rich child if I ahd that around 2000 (with 10 years old? lolo)

Putting aside the fact that your friend is an asshole, all the above posters have issues value a nds over a friend.
For god sake you even have 4 of those.
I was like you when i was 15 and didn't want to lent my LPs and CDs. But what life teach me over the years is that good friends are above all, sometimes even more than family members. Because you choose and you are chosen by your friends, but not your relatives.
Chill out then and go outside with your friends to meet some girls :P

Can you still trust a friend and consider someone a friend when he systematically shows conducts of deception/trickery and lack of integrity towards you?

One thing would be to show remorse, another very different one would be to try to shake off responsibility showing a dissapointing lack of regard towards you. When trust is lost, it is difficult to call someone a friend.

tc, ur friend borrowed ur ds, then u can ask him to return ur favour by borrowing his sister, and return to him after ur schools dance Festival....broken. (sorry, I don't know how to say it in English since in Italy we don't have that sort of party after the end of semester)

Never loan anything you can't afford to lose to ANYONE. At the very least, get collateral so they have a real reason to be careful with your devices. Literally the only friend I could trust had a collection of his own handheld consoles in nearly perfect condition.

I only borrowed console once. It was a PS2 from my friend when PS2 was still a top tier console and an expensive machine for us ''kids''.
The same day I bought God of War after listening to the ost and looking screenshots for months, took his PS2 home, hooked it up played and finished GoW in 1 day and half (without memorycard may I add) and then returned the console and gave him the game as thanks for lending the beast to me.

The point of my story is..dont lend to shits. Lend to good guys.

I feel bad for everyone saying they dont/didn't have friends. I love people, especially my friends even when they get on my nerves.
