Is it worth converting bat to exe

Is it worth it to convert bat to exe as currently all it seems to do is trigger antivirus and block people from looking at your code so why would you convert bat to exe

You wouldn't. As far as I know it's all the same thing and you can just right click edit to look at the code.

What do you mean some tools do? Convert to exe? Like I said it should do all the same stuff. Shouldn't matter. In fact I'd say bat is better because exes give the impression that there is a GUI so people don't know to use the cmd

Does your batch file carry any kind of user choice or are your users too stupid to feed it properly named files?
If so there could be a case to convert. Though there I think I would sooner make it into something like an autoIT script.

Is it more of a convenience for users which probably could get it done otherwise? Don't bother. As mentioned by yourself in the OP it usually just triggers over sensitive AV programs/too many malware devs used it as a minor obfuscation and AV overreacted.

Not really and all it does is make it look sketchy. Especially if you don't provide the source .bat, the program which converts it (so they can build it themself) and hashes or some sort of confirmation to make sure they know you aren't feeding them malware.

It is helpful for when you go between different versions of Windows as long as it converts it totally into code and doesn't just forward the commands. I have had a few scripts from Windows XP that had to be reworked when moving to 7 because of formatting differences with directories and then again when going to 10.
