Here are my rankings for E3 presentations. I'm sure you'll be able to understand why I picked number one, although number one and number two are basically interchangeable as far as my levels of hype go.
1. Bethesda
2. Square Enix
3. Microsoft
4. Sony
5. Ubisoft
6. EA
7. Nintendo
Bethesda was just a master of showing people what they wanted to see. Good on Bethesda for having a stellar presentation.
Square Enix started strong with Just Cause 3, climaxed with KH3, and showed some good stuff in between and after those games. I was disappointed not to see any FFXV news. Most notably I was hoping they would be able to announce a release date. I guess that's coming to Gamescom though. They only really get number two because the new IP was hardly worth mentioning with nothing worth showing for it, the mobile games were annoying, and they just did a repeat showing of some stuff that was already shown at the Sony conference.
Microsoft brought forward some cool peripherals, and I can appreciate what they're doing with mod support and everything. I don't find it revolutionary, but the backwards compatibility is a nice touch. It still won't get me to buy a Xbox One, but they did a good job.
Sony didn't do horribly, but they really didn't do well either. I can't say I was all that impressed. SE showed a lot more of interest for my PS4 than Sony did, and that's just disappointing. I was expecting a strong E3 to outline a good 2016. Instead we didn't see much of anything at all worth getting excited over.
Ubisoft, oh Ubisoft. The level of cringe I experienced watching their conference is not to be underestimated. At least some of the game offerings looked neat, although they still brought out the predictable stuff like Just Dance that really doesn't need to be seen at E3. Their presentation wasn't horrible, but I would not want to watch it again. Besides that, I'm not particularly hyped for much of anything they showed, though there is potential in a few of the titles.
EA just bored me. They had a couple interesting games at least, but good god we get it, sports games come out every year. There is literally no reason to bring them to E3. They never do anything different. There were a couple decent games shown at least.
Nintendo. Just. Ugh.
And that's that. Until next year, I suppose.
