Temporary Difficulties

I'm seeing an interesting trend on the Temp:
  • 3DS gets a port/remake of a 14 year old game, Tempers go pants-on-head retarded with joy
  • PSVita gets a port/remake of a critically-acclaimed, contemporary game, Tempers go "Boo!"
So "Borderlands 2" is heading to the PSVita so that now you can take all your fun adventures on Pandora with you and it's not exactly meeting expectations from what I've noticed so far. Bet you million bucks that if Nintendo announced "Majora's Mask 3DS" we'd be drowning in Nintenyearold jizz by now.
I don't get people.

Considering everyone and their mother can already get a superior version of Borderlands 2 on an existing console with an actual multiplayer community, it's no surprise no one really gives a shit about it.

And the 3DS has a lot more original games than ports, while it's the opposite for the Vita so there's that.

The "Superior version on an existing console" argument only really works when that console is in the same format, as in, a home console. Sure, you can buy Borderlands 2 on an existing system and it sure as hell will be cheaper too, but can you take your XBox 360 or PS3 on the train with you? I don't think so.

You can take a laptop, fair enough, enjoy aiming with a touchpad I suppose. Unless you want to be awkward and use a mouse or pair a controller to your laptop - that's going to be comfortable on the go.

There's nothing wrong with ports of good games since there's always someone who missed out on the originals or someone who just wants to take the game with him/her and play it on the go.

Im actually kinda excited to get BL2 on Vita. Its the only way ill really play it.

On the other hand... remember what website you are a member to. Our primary userbase is made of pokatards and rom beggers.

Borderlands2 on the vita kinda makes me want a vita. This and minecraft.

Change "Borderlands 2 on the vita" to "Borderlands 2 on the 3ds" and see what sort of reaction that news could have gotten. Not that it would ever be possible on the 3DS' laughably weak hardware.

We just love our 3DS's, thats all.

Vita is just so slick. It lacks imagination.

Whatever you say, Pasc. The console is just a lump of plastic that plays your games - thing is, there are better and worse lumps of plastic and the Vita happens to be a better lump... now we just need the developers to realize that and customers will follow suit. ;)

Better in terms of specs yes... but has it got the same following ?

That what makes or breaks apparently... ask the Dreamcast.

The whole "Dreamcast had no following" myth is absolute bogus - the console was discontinued because that was the decision of the new CEO, not because it had no following. The company shifted to software development because they made more money from software than from hardware. The Dreamcast was not a bad system - the problem was that they were in financial trouble after the fiasco of earlier systems in the west. If anything, I should "ask the Virtual Boy" which bombed big time on its own accord.

Seems like one learns new stuff everyday. Shenmue here I come.

Shenmue didn't really age well all things considered, at least in my opinion. The Dreamcast has a plethora of great games though and although a lot of them have received the "remake treatment" it's still worth it to try them out on their original system. :)

The Dreamcast's failure was partly a matter of timing and partly a financial decision - they didn't have the resources to compete with Sony's PlayStation 2 and although initial sales were great, they plummeted the moment Sony's system was announced (A lot like the situation the WiiU is in now, really) and they were forced to withdraw rather than lose more money by cutting the price and whatnot, which is a shame since it surpasses the PS2 in a lot of areas - after all, it's the first system to come online-ready out of the box with a ready Online Multiplayer infrastructure in place long before XBox Live and Windows CE compatibility allowed for a full-blown browser, among other things.

If it had DVD support and Sega wasn't in such a bad financial situation after their Genesis/MegaDrive extensions blunder as well as the terrible Saturn launch in the west, history of that particular generation might've been different entirely.

All what #jrpgvita has to do is bring Digimon to Vita and i'll insta get one.
Waifu Rhythm Simulator and Nostalgic Monster Farm is all i need.

So far i'm disapointed about the 3DS games list, i mean seriously, all of the games are half assed or the one that i like drop frames like hell or they ruin the X franchise or they don't bring it to Europe or..... so many or's.
Looking at the Vita list and nothings there that disappoints me(so far).

3DS is shit for me, period.
