I have version 7.0.16 of VirtualBox.
I set base memory to 512 MB, CPUs to 2, and the virtual hard disk to 5 GB.
What am I doing wrong?
Probably shouldn't be linking to that. I got told off by staff for linking to something on archive.org before.

Sounds like either you don't have enough space on the drive or VirtualBox does not have write access to the disk image location.

The VBox.log file in the VM directory should contain more information about why it failed.

the folder is in C:/Users/myname/VirtualBox VMs
That should normally be writable. Not sure what could be wrong, but have you tried reinstalling the app?

I think that's not the right log file, there should be an individual log file for each VM. Anyway, those logs don't indicate any issue.
