'Vampyr' Launch Trailer

In anticipation of the game's release next week, DONTNOD Entertainment has released a brand new trailer for its narrative-driven action-RPG Vampyr which you can see above.

In Vampyr you play as Dr. Jonathan Reid, a famous surgeon and blood transfusion specialist freshly turned into a vampire after arriving back in his home city of London following the Great War. A man of logic and science, Reid’s firm beliefs are turned inside-out upon awakening to a once-hidden world of secret societies, ungodly creatures and ancient orders set upon ending his existence. All the while, London’s population crumbles under the pressure of a terrible disease – and Dr. Reid may be the city’s last hope to stop it.

As a freshly minted vampire, the fastest way for Dr. Reid to evolve and unlock new supernatural abilities for combat is by drinking the blood of the living. But the latter can also be his patients! You'll constantly be faced with such conundrums in the game as your actions will have consequences. Indeed, the more life you spare, the easier is the difficulty. However you can balance a district's health status by feasting on some poor souls and at the same time saving others with crafted medicines appropriate to each character's ailment. Should the health status drop too low, the district will be lost to supernatural creatures along with every quest, shop and citizen that once lived there. If every district of London falls, the game can still be played to completion, though with an outcome that suits such recklessness.

Your actions will save or doom London.

Vampyr releases June 5th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Keep an eye out for the official GBAtemp review!

Dontnod has proven themselves to be a good dev...

...in terms of story, at least. The choice to include action RPG elements is weird, and could easily take away from the overall game. Hopefully it's good, otherwise I guess I'll just wait for Life is Strange 2.

I played for a bit and it's okay. Not a must-have, but nice to kill some time. Gameplay is a bit clumsy at time, graphics is not 2018 but more like 2013, but for the lack of any other new game releases until Octopath Traveler (NSW) releases, I'll probably finish it anyway.
