Hello,

I've used IDE drives for years on my PS2, but decided to try to upgrade to a larger Sata drive. I have the Gamestar sata adapter and a 2tb BarraCuda hdd. I've used winhiip in the past, but found out that it can't format an hdd this size.

I'm using ulanuchelf hdd > R1 > Format and it reads at the top of the screen "HDD formatting....".

Do you know how long it should take to format a drive this size? It has been at least an hour at this point and I'm wondering if it takes hours to complete a task like this for the ps2 or if the program is hung up.

Did you ever get an answer? Did it finally finish formatting. I'm in the exact same place.

No, I never got an answer, but it never formatted for me. I looked at several videos and they all show that it should not take hours to format.

I was able to try over and over again to format it, but never got it to work at this point.

I had to keep bringing it back to my pc and using disk management I believe to get it to show up on my pc as a usable hdd again.

If you figure out what step we are doing wrong please let me know. I had it sit for hours and it never formatted.

I didn’t know there was anything other than ulaunch.elf. I looked into wlaunch and I do see that people mention larger hard drives with it.

Do you have a particular version you recommend?

Thank you for even suggesting this as I felt I hit a dead end with the amount of times I tried having it format and fail.
