I tried the PMAP program on my SCPH-39004 PS2. It does read (burned) discs, but it's not at it's best.
To use it, I followed this post:
Using the calibration tool I can't get the jitter lower then 3100-3200 which was the original position.
Then at step 33 I put in a single layer DVD, a original PS2 game. The program spins the disc for a time, gives "DVD-SL FE LOOP GAIN NG: 101" and returns to the main menu without asking for a dual layer DVD.
The PS2 still plays discs, but there's no improvement from before using PMAP.
What does the "DVD-SL FE LOOP GAIN NG: 101" message mean?
