Hello casual readers and users of this forum! I'm a fairly new person in this topic (as for the GameCube) and I don't quite understand how to burn swiss to disk. I would not have applied to the forum if I had enough understanding in this topic or at least understood a foreign language (by the way, Hello from Mother Russia) if you have step-by-step articles or video tutorials, I will be happy to watch. Thank you for reading!

I'll leave some photos of my DVDs.

Make sure to test in Dolphin before burning, unless you don't mind potentially wasting mini discs.

Interesting mini DVD-R discs. Never seen banana digital discs before. :rofl2:

EDIT: Looked in the newer versions of Swiss. Looks like they have pre-built ISOs in the "ISO" folder. So you'd just need to burn that instead of the old school method.

EDIT EDIT: Testing the ISO in Dolphin, it just crashes. Would probably still work on a modded system though.

You will need to burn the Swiss ISO for your specific region using "ImgBurn"
Do I understand correctly that the region of my GameCube is indicated on the back of the console?
And if I have a GameCube with a Xeno chip, does it change the course of action ?

Yes. Seeing as you have a Japanese model, then you're going to need to burn the Japanese ISO.
You will need a Xeno GC or other GameCube modchip to run burned DVDs.

Noticed that as well when trying to capture a screenshot. At some point Dolphin emulator became unable to handle Swiss. ??Emulation bug or inaccuracy??

That does not change the course of action. Having a modchip installed makes this possible at all, since a burned DVD will be rejected on a stock console.
We don't have any real influence on the burning process of DVD-R, so just write the image with IMGBurn as said above.
Don't be surprised if burning takes a while. The writer might write much more than the tiny Swiss ISO itself to ensure some weird compatibility/standard requiring a minimal radius to be written on DVD-R (does not apply to DVD+R which would require bitsetting to work on GC instead).
=====

The next questions are:
  • Is the XenoGC installed correctly and does it work?
    • → Most reliable and easiest test is booting an original game from a different region… because of:
  • Can you GC read burned discs at all?
    • Even if the modchip is working correctly, the drive itself might fail to read/detect burned media
    • GC is picky. Some DVD-R work, some not. Not all GC drives are the same: Some are bad, some are very bad and some are horrible.
    • Adjusting the pot might be needed to get burned media work at all
In the end I'd recommend – once Swiss boots from a DVD – to set it to stop the drive automatically. It is a good idea to load games from SD2SP2 or SD-Gecko rather than from discs (original or burned).

And so tomorrow I will try to record Swiss on my Banana DVD-R. As for the chip, it is installed correctly and when I bought it, I checked and was given to play Resident Evil 4 GameCube PAL region, so it works properly as well as the disk reader. I will only pray for the correct Swiss recording on 10 banana discs. And I overlooked that I already have SD2SP2 available in this version -->
