Emulator for WiiU or Xbox One?

We have our trusty old sears Wii homebrewed so we can play emulators.
I was wondering: is it easier to put emulators on a Wii U or Xbox One?
We have both, and I may move my old roms to the next system and put the Wii in the attic.
I don't necessarily need homebrew (do I?) I just want to play some old/other roms.
Can the WiiU emulate roms onto the gamepad?

there both somewhat easy though I would suggest the wiiu seeing that you can play NES-Wiiu and a bunch of other consoles on it
