    So question about this. If its not displaying video in the system menu and you have it boot a game, would it then cause the system to display video because its out of System Menu?

    well from what I've read, its usually still alive if you can hear audio in the menu and I can. (had to hook up a PS3 to get it to try pulling audio when its not able to display video)
