Hacking Question Possible to run custom output resolutions, like 1600x900?

Since many games run internally at 1600x900, it would be nice to be able to run these game's native resolution. I was just wondering if there's any custom firmware around right now that may be able to do this. I can think of a few groups of people this would be useful for: 1) People with 4k...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I just want to do it because it bothers me having an working AGS system and AGB screen just laying around unused. I figure it would be a decent outdoor system, since the AGB screen can look pretty good in sunlight. I would sell the screen and motherboard but they just aren't worth much, since...

Kazzie, you know the AGS-001 is already washed out and a bit interlace-y, right? It's why they felt the need to make the AGS-101 in the first place. Maybe your mod looks even worse, just thought I'd let you know not to get your hopes too high for the results. Thanks for posting your progress...

My advice would be to watch your local craigslist until you see a beat-up SP get posted. I found a pink one that was covered in scratches but still worked. The AGS-101 only came out in a few colors so once you know what to look for, it's not too hard to find. I would feel bad pulling a screen...

    5) Some sellers put letters beside their items just for inventory purposes. so there is no difference between an F or G cable, for example. This isn't something every seller does but I ran into one Chinese seller with listings like this. And as far as I know there are 4 possible combinations...

I get the distortion when I press the start button hard. And when I look at the bottom of my system, it is slightly warped, once side of the shell doesn't come together completely. I reduced the distortion a little bit by removing most the tape I had holding down the ribbon cable. You really...

I'm not familiar with the game, so i can't tell if there is discoloration, or if the image is washed out. Also, there is a lot of glare on the screen, you should have probably taken pics in a darker room. And I'm not sure what everybody means by ghosting. I've always thought the term meant the...

Yeah, I was on the verge of buying a 32-pin board and selling my 40-pin because of some of the posts here. But I contacted the seller (thegodofgaming) and he seemed pretty confident in the cables he had, and said he was using them to do the modded system he sells in his store. So I gave it a...

Apparently, this seller on Ebay has the cable I would need. Has a "T" and a "F" cable listed, but doesn't explain the difference. Maybe one is for SP's that had the "B" screen and the other the "AB"...

On a side note, has anybody tried putting the original reflective AGB screen into the AGS-101 shell? I just have these two parts sitting here, would be shame not to make a working system out of them.

Alright guys, got the B screen installed on a 40-pin mobo, and contrary to other experiences in this thread, it looks great! I guess I found a better adapter for this combination? Here's the ebay link...

You should have marked the default position of your pot before you moved it. That's something that is calibrated on a per-system basis in the factory. The AB screen has unevenly spaced wires inside the ribbon with a brown tab, and the B screen has evenly spaced wires with a white tab.

I bought a 40-pin to B-type connector from somebody on Ebay yesterday, he insists it works fine, and he uses it with his 40-pin motherboards. I'll let you guys know how it goes. He has a 2-week return policy so I'm not worried.

Hey guys, currently I have a 40-pin GBA and a B (white-tab) screen. Am I reading correctly that it is better to use a 32-pin GBA with the B screen? Is it possible for me to find an adapter cable that will give me comparable quality on my 40-pin GBA?
