Hardware New 3DS XL Motherboard swap - IPS Calibration

Hey thanks for the detailed reply. My screwdriver skills are solid so I don't doubt I could do it. Having said that it turns out the screens in the newer 3DS aren't worth going to the effort of a swap so my old 3DS is safe from my prying fingers for now. Out of curiosity what is the issue...

Hardware New 3DS XL Motherboard swap - IPS Calibration

I'm waiting on a mint New 3DS XL to arrive and it has an IPS screen. My plan is to swap the motherboard from my old beaten up New 3DS XL into the minty one with the nicer screens. Is it true that they are software calibrated and that moving the motherboard might actually result in screwed up...

Hardware Removing Dust Under Top Screen from N3DSXL

There are plenty of guides how to do remove the top lens, have a look on youtube and see if you feel brave enough. In my experience the biggest risk is smearing glue from the edge of the lens onto the lcd panel when you're prying it off with a plastic spudger. In hindsight I'd be extra careful...

Gaming DSi XL Backlight bleed - Common issue?`

My second DSi XL turned up today. It has almost no backlight bleed but the screens aren't as well matched, also a bit too warm for my tastes. Ho hum

Gaming DSi XL LCD Potentiometer screw type?

Never mind. I've found a small philips screwdriver fits well enough to turn it. It hasn't solved the overall brightness imbalance but I have at least got slightly better contrast and reduced those subtle flickering lines.

Gaming how feasible is this? getting IPS and slot 2 on one device

Ahh I was mistaken in thinking that the standard DSi had a slot 2. It's such a shame that Nintendo removed that.

Gaming how feasible is this? getting IPS and slot 2 on one device

This video shows a guy hooking up a DSi screen to a DSi XL. Should be possible in reverse no?

Gaming DSi XL LCD Potentiometer screw type?

I've got a DSi XL with a dark top screen. I've seen the potentiometer screws but I can't tell what kind of bit they need. Anyone know?

Gaming how feasible is this? getting IPS and slot 2 on one device

Apparently the dsi xl still has the arm CPU and there is an 'emulator' that takes advantage of this. Off the top of my head i can't remember the name of it but you'd have to jailbreak your DS to use it.

Gaming DSi XL Backlight bleed - Common issue?`

I can live with a little bit. I remember how bad it used to be with lcd panels ten years ago. My original DS is perfect but IPS was fairly new when the DSi came around. I wish the 3ds xl had better scaling so I could just stick with that.

Gaming DSi XL Backlight bleed - Common issue?`

I thought it might be the case. I'll have to try and limit myself to three or four attempts and just live with the best option. I did notice twisting the shell fixes some of the worst bleed. I might have to open it up and see if there is any leeway for tweaking.

Gaming DSi XL Backlight bleed - Common issue?`

I've recently had the urge to seek out a DSi XL. I love the 3DS but I need those crunchy pixels for my old DS games. I managed to get a really gorgeous yellow DSi XL but the touchscreen has some pretty bad backlight bleed. Was this a common thing? I've got another one on the way but I don't...

Hacking Wood DS - Mario 64 touchscreen controls broken

I broke out my DS and decided to have another crack at this issue but I've had no luck. Clean, verified dump of Mario 64. No hacks or cheats. Latest version of Wood R4 has broken touchscreen controls, original non wood firmware works fine.

Giving this a *bump* as I dug out my DS and noticed the issue again.

Hacking Wood DS - Mario 64 touchscreen controls broken

I can't get the touchscreen to work properly (very unresponsive) with any version of the Wood firmware. All my other games are working fine and I've tried various dumps of the game with no luck. Installing the original firmware fixes the issue. I've got a genuine r4 and a DS lite.

Hacking What is the best GBA flashcart to use with R4DS?

I bought a Supercard Lite a couple of years ago and was pretty let down by the slowdown issues, I'm really behind the times on flashcarts but I've got my R4 up and running again with Wood and I'm looking to finally start playing GBA games, can anyone suggest a few of the best GBA flashcarts...
