    Hacking Venus and Braves

Hello GBATemp! As a way of wasting time for a few hours I started translating Venus and Braves. Except I'm having to do it as I go along while playing it, because I know a sweet load of nothing about hacking (well, I once somehow managed to do a script dump of Sigma Harmonics on the DS, but...

ROM Hack [NDS] Blood of Bahamut - Open Translation

Well, indeed. While I know enough Japanese to at least start on a translation, I know nothing about ROM hacking beyond being able to find text when it's not complicated to do so; I certainly can't rewrite the code to properly handle single-byte characters, I can't even work out how to open the...

ROM Hack [NDS] Blood of Bahamut - Open Translation

It's not particularly complicated. The tool is an unpacker and repacker for the various files that contain text in Blood of Bahamut. If you open the ROM up in CrystalTile you'll see in the file system there are DPK and DTX files (I think that's right anyway). Extract any one of these from the...

ROM Hack Blood of Bahamut Translation

I still think this is going to get an official translation; one of Squenix's translators is in the game's ending credits. But have fun!

DS #4355: Sakura Note - Imanitsu na Garu Mirai (Japan)

Surely more "Sakura Note - Ima ni Tsunagaru Mirai", separating out the particle? "Sakura Note - The Future Linked to the Present"?

ROM Hack "Ni no Kuni Demo" translation, Dutch and English

Um... This isn't Nanashi no Game. It's Ni no Kuni - which would make sense, given that it's on a Level 5 compilation cartridge and not anything by Squenix.

ROM Hack blood of bahamut doesnt save

I'm fairly confident Blood of Bahamut is coming out in English. The translator is listed in the (entirely in English) credits. Unfortunately the English text doesn't appear to be hidden in the ROM anywhere. As usual, the event text is compressed and everything else is uncompressed, so if...

DS #3960: Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito (Japan)

The game isn't even out in Japan yet. If anyone DOES do an English patch (why? it's almost certainly coming out in English anyway) it'll take more than the few hours since this was leaked to get it done...

    ROM Hack KH 358/2

But...the patch IS the patcher. You run the patcher .EXE, select the clean ROM file, then click "Apply Patch". Do you want a separate IPS patch or something? Why not just use the EXE?

    ROM Hack KH 358/2

Rapidshare link for those who seem to be rabidly frothing for it - http://rapidshare.com/files/251786579/KH_Patcher.exe.html And although I have no intention of playing the game with this patch (I'll probably end up buying the English language release), thank you psycoblaster for all your work...

ROM Hack Official translation requests topic

Unfortunately that's not really the case. Nanashi no Game doesn't use a nice simple NFTR font, and isn't encoded in Unicode or Shift-JIS (at least I don't think it is). The game uses all sorts of different fonts for different parts of the game, all of which are stored repeatedly in each file...

    ROM Hack Nostalgeo no Kaze

Thanks for the tips all. I suspect that coding anything to support the pseudo font is beyond me at the moment but it seems like a very sensible idea. It MAY not be too much of a problem if I can just make the relevant files bigger - there's a lot of spare space in the ROM anyway. I've yet to...

    ROM Hack Nostalgeo no Kaze

DISCLAIMER: I know next to nothing about anything useful for translating or ROM hacking. I'm just fiddling around out of my own interest. DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING TO COME OUT OF THIS. Okay, so I'm taking a look at Nostalgeo no Kaze on a whim. My Japanese ain't great, but I have dictionaries...
