Yep, it's a copout. My folks NEVER used that shit with us, and I never said it to my nephew/nieces.
Nephew: "Uncle ____, what's the big deal, why can't I smoke a cig?"
Me: (Breaks down cancer, COPD, yellow teeth, nasty phlegm blobs, CANCER, costly habit, etc.)

Addendum: To be fair, the first (and only) time I ever saw my nephew smoke ANYthing was many years later; by then he was a huge fat/muscular man, however. He pulled out a tiny spliff while we were parked in his truck one night, hehe.

Oh I dunno, WeedZ....children can (oftentimes) be very cognizant & aware, it all depends on the parent's effort (or lack of). We were all taught some pretty heavy shit at fairly young ages. Very beneficial later in life.
