Well, Sticker Star is a flawed game. It's "soulless" because it lacks the Paper Mario essence. Even Super Paper Mario had it and it's a pretty solid game even if different, while Sticker Star tries to be a "RPG" but it fails completely, it's just too boring and limiting IMO.

And being honest, Mario games are "soulless" because they are the same all the time, and the series has grown stale in some areas. That's why people dislike the "New Super Mario Bros" games even though they're okay.
