Switch TrustZoneHax on 4.x

nintendo-switch-15-1-630x354.jpg

The ReSwitched Hacking Team have done it again. motezazer, ktemkin and SciresM have achieved code execution on 4.1.0, the latest version at the time of writing this, via deja vu at TrustZone level. This means devices on 4.1.0 and below will be able to gain access to the whole system. SciresM strongly advises to not update in the future.

After less than a year, the Switch hacking team has moved extremely fast and now have got full access on the latest version. The progress being made is incredible, and in comparison, the 3DS took around 2 years to get ARM9 access. The scene is looking very promising so far and we are very lucky to have such talented people working on the Switch.

Wowza so many videos of wip and hacks. To say nintendo has been caught with its pants down on switch security is somewhat of an understatement...

Heres looking forward to homebrew channel soon

Just to confirm for my ape brain, all of the hackability of the previous FW versions has now come to 4.1.0. Like how 1.0.0 basically has the same hackability as 2.0.0
And Great Work :D

The delay wouldn't be months though, would it?
Really tempted to do the 4.1.0 update but don't want to regret it.. This is quite the conundrum.
No guarantees for anything at this point. You either update, or you don't. If you stay where you're at, you'll get "early access" kind of stuff.

To update or not to update.

If you want CFW and whatnot, don't update past 4.1, but it will be A WHILE before 4.1 gets CFW since priority is on lower firmwares starting from 1.0.0 and moving upwards. If you're on lower firmwares like 1.0.0-3.0.2, STAY on those firmwares since, again, you'll get them slightly earlier than firmware 4.X. But if you can't wait that long and would rather play games, then the best call for that is to get a second Switch and keep it somewhere to use when the time comes for CFW.

Or don't get CFW and just move on.

Nothing is certain at this point. Even for lowest FW with earlier release of hack, there may be delay during development phase with developers have things in life they have to attend. Delay can be a year in case developers think it's best to keep Nintendo away from patching it with hardware revision or drive away game makers with piracy. Rule of thumb for homebrew scene. Stay at lowest firmware as possible until any release

With how fast progression has been, I would bet it would be at most 2 months between the two. But imo there will likely be a good gap between public jamais vu exploit release and public Deja vu release, unless nintendo manages to patch it. May get patched tomorrow with an update, may get patched several firmware updates from now.

I'm really curious how they did it. I remember SciresM saying the lack of memory controller access made it extremely difficult.

Congrats either way.
because he's a wizard ofc

is that even patchable ? i thought that it could only be fixed on hardware revision

Deja vu exploit can be patched, but fusee gelee (coldboot bootrom exploit) cant be patched. Though no one is currently sure what the requirements are to use that bootrom exploit. If it even requires code exec (which is likely does) it will be inaccessible to get to via software on any firmware that does not have a code exec browser exploit

How long I wonder before we get a Hal for 4.1.0
I'm sorry, Dave

I cannot do that, Dave

Fusee CAN be patched, but not on consoles that have already been released

When Nintendo merged it's handheld and console devisions into one to make a super team of devs; those who hack/mod 3ds systems joined forces with those who do the same with the wii u to form a super talented team of hackers/modders. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

People do for many reasons. I bought a hardmod for my 3DS because they are fool-proof, brick-proof, and work on any firmware.

The hardmod for the 3DS was different due to it being for backups. Which was circumvented later on in the systems' life. I do agree the longevity is there, but there's also a better chance for long term failure. I unno.
