Here is some more information regarding region free on the Switch as it is now a thing.

(If you haven't heard)

You could have multiple accounts.
Each for a different region
The region that you set it to, you can go to that eShop region and download titles

So if you import a Switch from JAP, EUR, CAD, USA, etc, you could set it to your region.

That means region free is more than just game carts. This is a step further than region free in 3DS cfw.

I heard this somewhere. Do you think you could provide a source for these claims?

Nintendo's previous systems were region locked which is why we are "excited" about this.

You are partially correct. However, you are confused of two things:

The Nintendo Switch is a region free console. During the reveal event last week, Nintendo announced that they were dropping region restrictions. Without clarification, most assumed this applied to the console and the game’s cartridges. It goes further than that, though.

The Nintendo Switch’s digital stores are also region free. You just need to connect a country to your account. Even better news? Each console can support eight accounts.

and

The official news comes from Nintendo while speaking with Kotaku.

The Nintendo Switch system is not region locked, but we recommend that players buy games within their region to ensure full service and support. The user will access the Nintendo eShop that corresponds to the country identified in their Nintendo Account. (Up to eight user accounts can be created on a single Nintendo Switch system.)

Similar to PS4 and PSN Accounts.

Nintendo mentioned interview with Kotaku two days ago:

Source ?? No problem. Here: Kotaku

Hope it helps.

yea i heard this and posted on this before.
Its a step in the right direction for nintendo.
And this doesnt mean all games will be in one language. i.e. a game from japan being in full English
This will still probably give different releases for up coming games.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
