3DS isnt out of the question, wii u is. 3DS titles will probably be downloaded and played as well as being upscaled so they dont look horrendous.
I bring up the sales because it begs the question to why support backwards compatibility for a system that so few bought? If they didn't want it new, then why want it now? At that's how Nintendo will see it.
Becuase they saw how poorly it sold and now that they see they can get wii u and switch why not? But yeah it was a good idea to keep costs low.
That's not how businesses work. If something didn't work before, it's not worth trying to make it work. The Wii U failed, thus they no reason to keep supporting it in backwards compatibility.
But this is on a console basis, people didn't buy the Wiiu because it was a failure but they might want to play the games, so the allow for backwards compatibility to make some money back.
People already voted with their wallets and said they didn't want a Wii U, so why should Nintendo think "You know what people really want out of our new console? The Wii U!"
The wiiu plus more. People wanted to play these games but didnt want to buy the console just look, many key wii u titles are being ported to the 3ds just to make some money back.
That's not how businesses work. They aren't going to invest money into something if it's already been proven to fail. There is no reason to invest money into something when it's already shown to not bring money in.
