Is it safe to delete IOSes marked as "stub" by SysCheck (the "not patched" are the Nintendo original ones, if I understood correctly)?
Is there need to update - in some ways - IOSes?

Thanks for the infos! ;)

There's no need to remove stubs. They don't do anything except reset the console.

The official IOSes haven't been updated since SM 4.3 so the only ones you might need to change occasionally are custom ones for USB loading.

So... stubs are Nintendo empty IOSes that avoid user installing non original ones on particular slots (<200), right?

They don't really block anything because you can replace them with a WAD manager. Their main purpose is to wipe out the mods already installed when you update. Official IOSes generally don't get stubbed, they just stop using them.

Can you use this SysCheck? The older ones don't have very good information in them.

That looks fine to me. Your IOS58 is the current version and d2x v8 as 249[56]/250[57] is the current stable configuration. If for some reason you have trouble with launching Wii titleds from a HDD you might try d2x-v10beta52.

Yes, stubs are just dummy titles that reboot the console. They were only meant to delete cIOSes from what I can tell.

Is it OK to delete the following IOSes?

IOS202[60] (rev 65535, Info: hermesrodries-v6): Trucha Bug, Accesso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS222[38] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4): Trucha Bug, Identificazione ES, Accesso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS223[38+37] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4): Trucha Bug, Identificazione ES, Accesso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS224[57] (rev 65535, Info: hermesrodries-v6): Trucha Bug, Accesso NAND, USB 2.0

Thanks!

It's ok to delete them.Right by now everything can be done with d2xcioses, no need for hermes.
the thing with this, its, when you "accidentally" update the wii even if its on 4.3 you can still update, it removes cIOS 249 and 250 and make it stubs.
thats why 202, 222, 223, 224 and 236 are always welcome, in my case, i got some custom cIos from 245 to 248.

No, because installing the IOSES you can set an higher revision number than Nintendo's preventing the stub installation, and right by now is very difficult to perform accieentally updates with the blocks provided by priiloader and by the usb loaders that doesn't care about the update partition inside the games.

I have too the IOS236 but only for compatibility with specific outdated homebrews that requires IOS36 rev v3351 instead of 3608

You must be new here, "Accidental Updates" are FAR MORE common on most consoles that you could mention, starting by the 3DS lol. and personally, i dont see the need to delete Hermes IOS, also, some versions of MMM or ModMii, Run on IOS 236, mostly due to cIOS 36 has AHBPROT, and gives those homebrew, full hardware access.

Delete IOS 50 to speed up your Wii.

Edit by Moderator :
Don't do that. that's dangerous !
It was a sarcastic answer, not a real thing to do. don't follow random info if you find this post on google search.

It's an old meme, where ignorant users for some reason feel compelled to clean the IOS's on their systems, even though it literally has no effect on their system performance whatsoever. This led to the dangerous situation of people just randomly deleting critical IOS's from their systems leaving them in a bricked state. If you have to ask what IOS is safe and what to keep your already asking a stupid question and deserve to be mocked. Deleting IOS50 on System 3.4 is the equivalent to deleting the System32 folder in windows.
