you need to select an specific pokemon on pc/party, to press right button on mouse, select view data, then go to file->save pokemon (from tabs), you'll need pk2pk to change save format
I did that and its now a ph6 file. I put it back into the soulsilver save file on pkhex. Now whats the next step?

PKhex now handles the generation conversion itslef, so pk2pk isn'tneeded anymore.
Now im confused. I have the save file from ss. I open it with Pokegen. I selected one and saved pokemon from tabs. Now how do I go about putting it into pokemon white for example?
Open your save in pokegen (gen 4/5 gqmes) or pkhex (gen 6), and drag your .pkm file into any box/party slot.

Edit: I added them one by one and it worked great. Is there anyway to keep the original trainer names? I have some event pokes but under trainer name it just shows ????

Idk, OT shouldn't be altered. If that's Japanese/Korean event, maybe that's your computer that can't read those alphabets. Does the OT appear altered in game too ? (release them if that's the case, so you won't have troubles with Nintendo)
No. In orignal game it appears how it should. I have a few gamestop events that show as game stop in soul silver but in black its ????
That is probably because black does not have the same "event information" that the newer Soul silver has as black is an older game.
I remember having issues with OTs when managing .pkm files (4th gen ones) as well but it happened because in pokegen the default target game is always pokemon BW2, once I adjusted it to Pokemon HGSS it read the data accordingly
I'm having an issue getting it started. i read the instructions saying to put everything in the root, but when i do that it doesn't display on the homebrew menu. i copied the folder containing the .3dsx, .smdh, and .xml files to /3ds, so as the folder is still in the one in the sd root, and i saw the icon. however once it mounts AS, it hangs on this screen.
i'm a very literal person so i'm pretty sure i just misunderstood the instructions.
