At the moment, I realized that people sell parts on eBay. I think this would be a little interesting.

I have only the motherboard. I'm going to do this ONLY if I can't have my European N3DS on the same Nintendo Account as my American WiiU system. I figured a current generation console would just force you to make a new Nintendo Account based on the NNID linked on the system, but I still have a little hope.

If it comes to worst, I'm going to try to build my O3DS back up again, and "maybe" upgrade to an American N3DS. Most likely not if the NX portable releases in 2016, but at least I have a 3DS as a part of the "unified" system. All regions being merged sounds promising after seeing the announcement.

Right now, the motherboard is able to turn on with the battery inserted and/or plugged in, but the blue light will turn itself off after 3 or so seconds. I figured it's because the 3DS realized it's missing parts?

EDIT: Wait, I heard Japan is already using the system. Any Japanese users know how setting up a Nintendo Account on 3DS systems? Or has the "console" version not been implemented yet?

I currently only have the motherboard left of my o3ds as every other part is broken XD

What I'm doing is getting a new o3ds and put in my old 3ds's motherboard in. The nnid on the old mother board has many games bought (fe awakening) it is also on an old firmware so I can exploit that to get cfw. I'm in the same boat as you, 3ds turns on for 3 seconds before turning off with a pop (damaged upper led ribbon)

I find it easier to get a new 3ds than order everything but a motherboard. (It's good to have a spare when modding)

I may find a used working system as well, then. I accidentally broke a ribbon cable when putting the upper screen back together attempting a shell swap. I currently have a European N3DS but I'm afraid it won't work with my American NNID via My Nintendo. The only way to find out really is on Feb 17 when the account system goes live.
