My Wii U's battery had been having problems for a long time.
First, it lasted very little.
After a while, the gamepad practically didn't charge the battery, the controller only lasted a few seconds with the charger disconnected.
And then, it stopped turning on even with the charger connected and the battery was swollen and unusable.
This was frustrating because I really wanted to play my Wii U in the last few days Online and if I managed to unlock and install Tiramisu I could use homebrew to use other controls like the Switch Pro Controller, that's when I found a tutorial on the internet on how to turn on the Wii U GamePad without the battery with just the connector.
Basically you just need to join the cables: Red + White and then Gray + Black like this:
