    Ok one last question: if I want to play pre-2011 (patched) games on my console do I have to apply any kind of dashboard update? If yes will that affect my ability to play backup games in any way? Also will any game prompt me to update the dashboard and if so can I refuse to do so?

    Thank you that's exactly what I was looking for! DinohScene said above that my SATA chipset must be from this list but no computers I have have any SATA chipsets from that list. Are you saying that I should try it anyway and that it might work?

    Checked the SATA chipsets in all my computers and they are not compatible. Is the reason that I can't play RDR that is has a different "wave" than GOW 2 that my firmware can't discover? If so is it possible to patch the newer games somehow to make them work in older firmware?

    Yes I believe I have patched them correctly (no errors in agbx360). I'm thinking maybe the firmware version is old and doesn't support newer games? If that's the case is there anything I can do to update it without needing any extra hardware (or at the very least check what version/hack I have)?
