    correct, you cannot save to the sd card slot. But you can put an sd card in a card reader and into the usb port. this works perfectly.

    I have a hdd hooked up to my wiiu. you can choose where to save games, either hdd or internal memory. afterwards you can move it too, if you want.

    Wondering why no one seems to want to know about movie files..? ie .avi .mp4 .mkv .mov .xvid .vidx etc etc etc. and if wiiU can play them off of SD or HDD. nintendo tv has no file folder to play movies.

    OK I have done some digging abd it appears the SD card slot is solely to keep wii backwards compatibility. All wii games (virtual console and wiiware and saves) are transferred to sd card for system transfer. Wiiware purchased can still be stored either to system or sd memory from eshop, just...
