Sorry for taking so long to update. Truthfully I sorta forgot about this thread. I just found it in my bookmarks and decided to be a Good Samaritan and report my results for anyone who's looking for it in the future. The Y cable did indeed fix it. None of my 3 USB harddrives came with this cable. It never even occurred to me that this would be a thing. Regardless, I'm fairly sure this is my problem and I'm completely sure that I can purchase one of these on amazon for fairly cheap. Thank you. Will report back with results when cable comes.- laungst
