There are many ways to accomplish the end result, this was my attempt at laying out how things work without relying on other applications/packages. Was hoping it would help people who have tried the easy button and run into issues.
Cells are stacked and run in parallel on a regular basis. There is a potential for them to become unbalanced but there are ways to mitigate that as well. Quality cells won't have a problem.
I find this thread suspect. The OP joined just to post this question which we all know comes up every time a new HOS version is released. At least this time it wasn't blamed on the dog/kids/roommate/etc....
OP then states that he's new to modding but may have followed a guide that walked...
IMO there is no reason for emmc to be involved. At some point you have to use homebrew on the sysnand and then connect to Nintendo servers. That will be your risk.
If I understand correctly, Nintendo's primary argument was that folks associated with Yuzu, even indirectly, were helping people get the needed Switch decryption keys. While Yuzu could have likely prevailed after a lengthily court battle I'm sure it was easier to simply settle and move on with...
I know I'm a sample size of one but my OLED is still working two years later with a corner adapter and no reflow. I'm sure this method results in fewer issues for those selling modded consoles.
Makes sense for him, he's doing lots of these and now doesn't have to remove the main board. Not sure it benefits hobbyists or people doing installs for themselves.
If you're going to to effort of removing the NAND daughterboard and plugging it into another Switch, it would be easier to get an EMMC adapter and simply connect it to a computer. Dumps made by Hekate are simply a raw read (bit by bit) of the EMMC and can be done in a number of ways once you...
I hear a lot of rumblings about Picofly being unstable and causing EMMC issues. Is this really a thing or is this a side effect of the RP2040 based hwfly clones having quality control (I know likely not a thing ) issues?
HOS, Hekate, and Atmosphere all have their own versions. The HOS version will dictate the minimum required Atmosphere and Hekate versions. Any mods or sysmodules will likely also have their own versions and updates.
Isn't he talking about simply trying to get a wire or adapter soldered to the dat0 ball without a full R&I? The problem i see with that is you're mixing lead free and leaded solder types. With a full R&I you can clean off the EMMC and reinstall with a single type.
@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
