New Virtual Boy emulator "Red Viper" for 3DS released with full 3D support

I've only played VirtualBoy once--at a Blockbuster Video store in the 1990s. While it was kind of interesting, I thought that the form factor of sticking your head inside in a fixed position while the VB sat on a surface to be constricting in some ways. Obviously, the Nintendo 3DS was the...

Hacking Guide - How to convert YouTube videos to Game Boy Advance ROM files

I converted some old 1960s Spider-Man cartoon episodes yesterday. I tried to convert 25 of them, but only 16 worked properly (9 of them had video-audio sync issues or the sound would cut out completely about a quarter of the way through--the latter issue occurring only on the longer videos)...

FluBBa's modern GBA and DS(i) emulators, plus assorted other recent homebrew.

I'm a big fan of Flubba's emulators. I've always wondered though how he was able to emulate GB/GBC at perfect full speed on a GBA. Consider this: the GBA has a CPU of 16MHz while the GB CPU is 4MHz and the GBC is 8MHz! Admittedly, I know very little about what goes on in the backend inside of...

    Homebrew OPEN_AGB_FIRM discussion thread

Kudos to the one (or those) who have made it possible to play GBA games on the 3DS with a beautiful and full-sized screen. And because I am actually playing the games not in emulation, but on BARE METAL is the cherry on top. A tip of the hat to you, and i sincerely thank you for doing the...

Longtime handheld emulator fan, I just registered today!

Hello everyone. I first got into handheld gaming when my wife got me a Gameboy Advance for Christmas in 2001. When I was shopping at a video game store, I saw a device for sale called the "Pelican Games Downloader .NET" that had flash memory that could only store up to 96KB that let you play...

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
