Just a follow up to this... and this in itself is puzzling.
Out of exasperation, thinking 'surely this won't work' I tried booting the PS2 Fat with the newer v1.953 MCboot card in the second memory card slot.
And now it works!
Very odd. For now, I'm just happy that I got it to work. But I'd...
Thank you! This is good to know, and I'll certainly attempt it.
The only thing is, I'm a little twitchy about such things. I worry (probably unduly) about messing up the single working MCboot card I've got. I'm big on having redundancies, so if possible I'd like to have a whole other card...
Help me GBA Tempers! You're my only hope!
I've encountered a really strange issue with a FreeMCboot card I bought off Ebay (I know, I know - it just seemed like a better option than messing about with my own install. That stuff intimidates me.)
Basically, here's the scenario:

Just a quick update on this thread - I've fitted a Western Digital 1TB SATA drive and *so far* it seems to be working. I ran into a different issue which has thrown a spanner in the works, but I'll sling up a new thread for that.
Hi guys and gals! I've got a query or two for the ever wonderful community here.
I've just restored and refitted an old Fat PS2 to the best of my ability. Which is Bumblefoot code for 'I cleaned it out, washed it and fitted a new fan and power switch.' As I've got hold of a nice new FreeMCboot...
Thanks a ton for the input, guys! I apreciate it a lot.
I'll be looking into Lapask's suggestion about formatting and then re-formatting the drive once I get a bit of time to tinker with the Wii a bit more.
Hey everybody! I'm a clueless noob around here, just getting to grips with using an external HDD with USB Loader GX on my Wii. (You may have seen the thread. With its hilarious typo in the title.)
I've been battling with a WD Elements 500GB hard drive. The difficulties have mostly come from me...
Bit of an update to this! (Sure, no replies to this thread yet, but I know folks are watching it. Here's hoping this'll help somebody.)
I've managed to un-bork my HDD. Did some fiddling in Windows disk management, unallocated the HDD's active partition, and then plugged it back into the Wii...
Hi everybody! This is my first post here, as I've got an issue I'm trying to get to the bottom of. There seems to be a lot of dodgy information online and I keep running into some frustrating problems as I try to puzzle it all out, so I figured it might actually be best if I asked the venerable...
only ps5 updated to latest firmware can go on psn, jailbroken ones just don't use psn or they risk getting flagged or banned, altho spouting profanity in online play alredy does that
