Tesla is working on Steam integration for Tesla Arcade

MX-Interior-Carousel-A-Desktop-LHD.jpg

One of Tesla's more unique features is its Tesla Arcade, which allows drivers to play video games on its center console, either through the pedals and steering wheels, a touchscreen or traditional controls. Many classic arcade games have been made available on the service, as well as some newer titles like Cuphead and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

However, Elon Musk announced recently that specific games may no longer need to be ported to the Tesla anymore. In a short Tweet, responding to a video showcasing the Tesla's gaming capabilities, Musk said "We’re making progress with Steam integration. Demo probably next month."

As pointed out by PC Gamer, Tesla has a shareholders meeting in that timeframe, so it's possible the feature will be demoed there rather than a public trial.

Not much is known about the exact specs of the Tesla's internal computer, but Tesla itself claims on the page for the Model S that it features "up to 10 teraflops of processing power" for "in-car gaming on-par with today’s newest consoles."

That's pretty cool

The cars are super well made, and actually very reasonably priced all things considered

I like the idea of playing a racer with your real steering wheel and pedals also, that sounds like stupid fun

I suppose they know they are about to lose big time, trying to come up with gimmicks to replace their "self driving EV" thing.

Comma is beating them in self driving and a bunch of companies are about to clobber them on the EV front.

They have something like 75% of market share, and the longest history and most experience with automated driving

Sure they will probably lose some market share as a plethora of new EVs come on the market, but they are still WAY above any single seller or model by an extreme margin

People love to hate on this company mostly because it's successful, but it's almost always unfounded

Easier to buy than a Steam Deck y/n?
depends what model you want, some configurations you can get with wait times of a few months, others are in such high demand you can look to be waiting near a year

it's why some used teslas actually sell for more than new

blame the international chip shortage and extremely high demand

Let's see:
- Plenty of vaporware
- Remotely disabling features
- Dangerous advanced driver assistance package
- Misleading marketing
- Insane CEO
- Advanced driver assistance package beaten by a cellphone
- Many QC issues
- Not addressing major car vulnerabilities
- Hostile to third party repairs
- No OBD-II port
- Bricking cars by continuously writing to flash, wearing it out

They are only successful because they were the only company that had something that looked good for a while and have a massively inflated stock price, now that all the other companies are out of the R&D/trial phase they will get slaughtered. They might not even last past Elon's insane Twitter bid that he didn't have the money for. Tesla isn't a company that deserves your money.

Let's have a bet for bragging rights, if their end is really imminent they should fail by next year? But I will go easy on you - if by next year their share of the market is under 50% then you win (which is not even getting close to being "slaughtered").

The reality is the company is doing extremely well and people love to hate on a good thing. But only time will tell if everything you say will really come true so let's just wait. Remind me July 2023.

Chances are the company will be dead in the next decade.

Maybe they should focus on making their anti-collision software not ram itself into a wall at the smallest issue instead of adding features like this.

For someone in the gaming sphere, how do you not know that there's usually like 5 design teams on any 'concept' like a "Car" Computer, each handling different Programs/Software ends. Even if I'm nowhere as familiar with Tesla, the idea they wouldn't have a COMPLETELY SEPERATE TEAM from whoever's working on this, specifically working on the problem you mention, is ridiculous.

Going full circle with Horizon Chase Turbo, as you're driving the car while your little nephew plays the game B-)
