Yes it does, No logging, blocks isp throttling, prevents location information and it protects online hacking. I use a free VPN called ProtonVPN for my pc and Thunder VPN for my phone

Actually, ProtonVPN is endorsed by Mozilla and PCMag. However, Thunder VPN is not the best VPN but it's free and better than nothing.
I don't. I know of them, but I don't know what's good and what's not. I usually use usenet and private trackers to prevent isp letters. when I was in college, there was a mass email sent out that they had receiver over 10,000 letters about illegal downloading. I used usenet then, and I never got in trouble. it was a three strikes rule.
Doesn't really matter who endorses them, if you're using a vpn for security purposes, it shouldn't be a free one, yes there are some authentic ones that give you a finite amount before you pay but still
I see your point, however I feel you get some cool extra features with a paid VPN, but you still have to pay
I do pay for usenet (just started using it again) as well as a lifetime membership to two nzb sites. that's how I get my stuff if my private tracker site doesn't have it. I'd like to use a vpn, but I don't know which one to try or how it works.
I suggest using a VPN, with it you prevent ISP throttling, can connect to other countries if you want to see that side of the web. VPN's use the same technology used by banks and militaries to keep information secure, not even the VPN knows what you do
I hate it when an uploader doesn't have par files or few of them. I was using yenc power post to post things to usenet, and I'd always upload par files for about 15% of the file to repair it if damaged.

do you have to open an app and will it secure all pcs (have 3)? I know that with usenet, you have to have a news reader like sabnzbd to understand the articles. it doesn't just work out of no where.

After getting a few copyright strikes myself as a massive pirate, and having my main email account hacked into and stolen last month... I have no choice really but to take my online privacy seriously.
1.) Never use your real name, phone number, social security number, or address online except for official government work, or where legally obliged.
2.) Always use a VPN as a bare minimum. Strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and backup accounts are a MUST!
3.) If you give away or donate electronic devices, most people forget (or don't care ) to sign out of them first. Make sure if you have Android or iOS, to remove your accounts from the phone or tablet BEFORE a factory reset. Otherwise, the next person won't be able to sign in on the device, and your account can become a target for hackers to bruteforce their way in. (I've recently experienced this, and the loss I'm suffering from it is pretty grand.)
4.) Always backup and sync your important documents, pictures, videos, and other precious moments to multiple cloud accounts, even if it seems redundant. You never know when a device can fail or an account can become compromised.
5.) Don't just use strong passwords, but also change them somewhat often. And don't keep using the same password across multiple things. Make the passwords NOT words or strings of numbers, but a mash-up of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Passwords don't have the same restrictions as usernames, so get creative. No names, no birthdays, nothing easily guessable from a dictionary file. Online random password generators exist, and you can always use something like a password manager like LastPass to remember them for you. Do not write them on sticky notes and place them around your desk... It may be common office work practice, but trust me... Either memorize them, or use a password manager.
6.) Encrypted drives aren't fool-proof, but to the average computer/laptop thief, they won't know how to crack the encryption. They'll typically see it's either "blank" or encrypted and not even try. I also suggest using Biometrics whenever possible, as it's getting harder and harder to fool biometric hardware with paper printouts of your face, for example.

Using an "incognito" browser that doesn't save anything might not be convenient in the here and now, but you're much better off than if you use a browser that saves all your shit like address for autofill, bank cards, bookmarks, and autologins. I don't understand your question. Do you mean you always have to open the app to turn the VPN on?
A VPN can be useful, and they are really cheap.
I suggest using Brave Browser and a VPN in your case

It really depends on the VPN provider. To your second question, it also depends on your VPN provider, however most providers allow for just certain devices, for example I can use my VPN on a phone, pc, android tv etc, however I can't use it on my Nintendo Switch

the more i see youtubers shilling out vpns like nordvpn and expressvpn the less inclined i am to actually use one

I only watch tv when i goto bed, it puts me to sleep, and I have a nas drive filled w my fav shows so i can watch them in order, commercial free. I usually watch Married w Children, or South Park

I stream from Nas to firestick, one on every tv, and use Kodi. I'm happy w it, plays everything. (I pirate/torrent shows/movies on pc, and put on nas)

I got my Dad a firestick for Xmas and showed him those 3rd party sites on Kodi, he loves it, all he watches anymore. He said he has got 3 letters from AT&T already about pirating, but he says f them, let them shut my internet off (He wants out of his AT&T contract anyways)
