I just did CPR on my 4.1.0 which is now resting in the hospital at 5.0.2 and getting ready for rabbids dlc. Can't be bothered to wait for atmosphere. I want to play Rocket League in bed as well and my 3.0.0 ain't going nowhere.

Just went through the eshop...I shouldn't be amazed at how much crap there is on it...yet I am.

This is unlikely to happen anytime soon, and it's unlikely to ever happen on 3.0.2 or higher systems.
Since (reversible) AutoRMC works on every known firmware, I guess a (reversible) coldboot solution might be found on every current firmware. Perhaps as a "non-official" AtmosphereNX mod...

Once cfw supports sleep this is a non issue is it not?

certainly when a jig is no longer necessary, then you won't need to worry about jigs causing any problems. I hesitate to speculate on "if's" and "when's" and "maybe's". It could be next week, next month next quarter......

My opinion is that, even if I only had to use the jig once, I'd not want to use a paper clip, I'd avoid using hard solid conductor large gauge wire etc. as I originally posted.

The prospect of sleep CFW doesn't change how I would write the post.

Please don't post anecdotal life stories. It isn't really relevant to the thread and I don't think anyone know what you are talking about.

or soldering, risking a messed up joycon
i'm terrible at soldering and have only done it a few times but managed to add a button into my joycon i'd say the risk of that is much lower if you dont push hard when soldering compared to using a jig

So... is soldering the two pins on a an extra joy-con rail the safest solution?
I was about to buy a jig, but I do not mind getting a rail if that will extend the life of my joy-con/ console.

For what I read in other threads it's unlikely there will be a software coldboot solution anytime soon or even ever. Warmboot is possible already but SciresM haven't released it.

I think if you are OK with some soldering, a spare rail is a really good option. If I hadn't felt super comfortable with the magnetic reed relay switch option, I would have done the extra joycon rail for sure (as opposed to a jig). That is of course assuming I could find one cheap :)

Im kinda sad because I was using a small paper clip and it looks like I indented the 10th pin :/ It still works, but im guessing that side is gonna ware out sooner than the other side now.. I'll probably have to replace the rail sooner or later... I'll probably just do the AutoRCM tbh..

Any good rail replacement links? Something that isnt cheaply made?

Does anybody know what exactly TX's jig uses? I can't tell if its the infamous paper clip method or not.

Should I get a joycon rail replacement and just lift pin 9 over 10 instead? I don't have access to a soldering iron and don't have experience with one.
I want to be able to test if my switch can enter RCM as soon as I get my switch in 2 weeks. But I'm still debating what tool to get to enter RCM. The rail replacements are $9 on ebay from China. But if TX's jig is actually safe, I'd just get that instead.

The TX jig in the images "LOOKS" like 10 and 7. It also looks to have appropriate contacts that would likely not damage your switch pins (though it is hard to tell for sure since they only have shown 3d models on their site).

pin 9+10 has a "bad topic" now the jig has a "bad topic" cant wait to see reed switch bad topic, autorcm bad topic. and everything bad topic

everyone with a common sense should know the involving risk's when doing stuff it isnt designed for..

That's why I wear thick cotton gloves when I touch my Switch, so the ridges in my fingerprints doesn't corrode the delicate velvet surface of the Joy-Cons. I also wear a full welding mask while playing so the humidity of my breath doesn't rust the cartridge slot. It's a bit hard to see but totally worth preserving my $300 toy.

That looks needlessly bulky and only likely to cause more damage!! Look at the gauge of the wires!! And how exactly do you easily get it in and out of the rail??

I got a 3D printed one that looks very similar to TX that fits beautifully with a small gauge wire the same size as the Joy-Con pins and it cost me like $9 and 2 weeks to get it from England. There's no way I'm going to jam a bare ram board with a paper clip welded onto it in my Switch :P

Wait a minute... are you being sarcastic?
