Is there a way for me to install HBL w/o web exploit since Haxchi is allowing me to run unsigned code?
Well you're kind of in the "chicken or the egg" situation since you can't do anything without being able to get into HBL.

Your best bet is to try and find a way using fw.img since you have HaxChi setup to boot that by holding A

Any suggestions on how to achieve such? When I scan my SD Card, I honestly do not even see a fw.img to even begin to look at what to modify. Unless I copied it over to SysNand somehow...

No it won't be there. You have to download one from that iso site or make one yourself. Fw.img is how we used to run a custom firmware

I was thinking if you could use a prebuilt one that somehow launched HBL automatically or maybe build a fw.img that does this. Let me ask a few know it all's

@dimok
@FIX94
@Felek666
@Madridi
@EyeKey

User has a HaxChi installed on 5.5.2. Here is the users HaxChi config

a=fw.img
b=
default=sysmenu

As you can see. User is on 5.5.2 with no way to get to HBL to fix the HaxChi config. Can he use fw.img to somehow get to HBL on 5.5.2?

With @EyeKey s skills I would think there could be a way to inject a proper HaxChi config without running HBL

I found this. Even tho it's a bit old. This will allow you to launch WUP server.

Now what you do with WUP server is for the smart people listed above. I'll bet you can somehow fix HaxChi with WUP server.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-load-a-fw-img-for-any-file-dumping-wiiubru-status-update.445840/

I think wup installer is all that I need....All I want to be able to do is to download games and play them from my external hard drive. I think the only way to "install" a game to the external hard drive is with WUP Installer, which takes us back to the issue at hand.

Yes but you can't get WUP installer to work unless you can get into HBL. I didn't say "WUP Installer" I said "WUP server". Two very different things. Hold tight though. I found a solution for you. I'm working on typing up the instructions.

The basic steps are:

1. Make sure DNS blocking is enabled on 5.5.2
2. Use hexFW fw.img to dump your otp.bin and seeprom.
3. Downgrade your firmware to 5.5.1 using these new sysnand dumps
4. Double check DNS blocking on 5.5.1
5. Access HBL through webexploint on 5.5.1
6. Fix HaxChi by reinstalling with a proper config
7. ???
8. Profit

(steps 7 and 8 are a joke from South Park)

I'll come back and be way more specific after I compile the hexFW fw.img file for you

Edit: Hmmmm. Looks like this method would work but you'd have to perform a hardmod and lots of micro soldering. Well at least you can go through the steps to backup your otp.bin and seeprom. Get the other files too if you have room. Gimme a minute. I'll have a fw.img for you to launch soon

There has got to be a way to get into sysnand HBL with a fw.img file. The quest continues!

Why don't you just use Mocha in sysNAND mode?
You could just run it then install a Homebrew Launcher forwarder.

OP already has HaxChi CFW. The problem is he doesn't have a way to launch HBL. Mocha won't help
Sorry, I forgot that Haxchi needs to be reinstalled to apply the new config.
I wonder if it's possible to rename a .elf file to fw.img and have Haxchi boot it instead of a CFW.

I'll give it a try just to see. By the way, anyone want to try and complile hexFW for me? I'm having troubles getting it to compile.

https://github.com/hexkyz/hexFW

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Simply renaming the file doesn't work. We need a fw.img that will allow us to fix HaxChi config
