Disagree. I think they both equally help in innovation. Don't need feature parity, yet people keep going on about another straightforward console from Nintendo. So because phones have them, that mean other devices shouldn't? Makes no sense. I guess consoles should stop supporting controllers because about anyone can get a controller for their PCs.
Controllers are a different issue, they aren't devices unto themselves. You can take an XB1 controller and use it on a PC or XB1. You also don't pay $300+ for a controller. I just don't see touchscreens as adding anything to the experience, when you're meant to have both hands on controllers when playing anyway. Gaming is largely skill-based, and mobile touchscreen gaming is a lot more shallow, to say the least.

I voted intriguing.... looks like a fantastic handheld machine to me, ticking all the right boxes - imagine, say, an enhanced Pokemon Sun & Moon running on it! I also quite like the idea of it being a mp handheld - could work for both the lads in the back of the car on long journeys (though mobile phones & PoGo have that covered for now)
The whole docking and using as a console bit I'm not arsed about though - it's neat, I guess, but buying a 'console' years later than my PS4/XB1 launch which won't be able to compete at 1080p on makes that whole part of the machine a bit pointless for me - the difference will likely be instantly noticeable, and would probably lower my opinion of the machine.

...but as a handheld machine I'm sold already - I only use the Wii U via the gamepad screen, might as well sell that now to be honest!

Less is more, motion controls + touch cost $$$ for gimmicks (either makes the console cost less or have better hardware where it matters). I'll always defend the iphone losing the jack and sticking to 1 port because it: A. Makes it more water proof B. Encourages innovation. If nobody takes the leap then nothing will change. I'm all for a cordless world.

Huh, the S7 is also water-proof, and it does have a 3.5mm jack.... Both are able to handle a lot underwater.

Cordless is not always good either. Having to charge earphones? That absolutely sucks. They are also more prone to getting lost.

So when its home console its more powerful(when its plugged in to the station) I noticed the device was lagging heavy on zelda. Someone please clarify.
It seen that the dock doesn't have any additional hardware, only serves to use a TV as screen, but it still needs confirmation

I find it hard to like. They have made a lot of compromises in order to have those two small detachable mini controllers for multiplayer.
Lack of: d-pad, dual screen mode (like DS or Wii U), backwards compatibility (for not having dual screen mode), cameras, motion controls / touchscreen (we still need confirmation of that).

Well, except fighting games, I don't see multiplayer games that need a lot of buttons, so i think the 2 mini controls for multiplayer is awesome.

And the hardware is too much different to make backwards compatibility, if they do backwards compatibility with something, they will probably use VC or something like it. And we still don't know it will be impossible to use the as dual screen yet

I really like the idea. I dreamed of a system like that since the PSP and itˋs cables to hook it up with the TV. That said we got to wait and see how the specs are, if the switch is really that quick, how the online is and the games. Will it backwards compatible with the 3DS? The WiiU? Both? What will the launch line up be? Both the Wii U and the 3DS suffered really badly from a terrible launch. The main thing that saved the 3DS was that the compition ( vita) was just as bad and got even less support from Sony. They canˋt expect the same kind of thing to happen with the Switch.

I doubt this is a touch display, so i guess no 3DS capabilities...
How would be backward compatible with WiiU games without optic reader ? Maybe it's in the dock ?

The main point, it is silly to say since X have something, means that Y shouldn't have it. I would think you would take any feature you can get at a price point and not deny them just because another device might or have the feature(s). You may not see it as adding anything to the experience, but a lot of people do. That's is one of the perks of having multiple features.

That's not my reasoning behind rejecting extra features, though. My reasoning is that every device is designed for a different purpose, and consoles are designed for gaming. Any extra layers of obfuscation between you and the game are both unnecessary and unwelcome for most people. You also diminish third-party support when you try to get developers to code for these extra features and they don't have to on other consoles or PC. Who wants to play Dark Souls on a touchscreen?

Don't get this mindset, especially since it would be more optional this time around. Basically saying, less features are better. Kind of like Apple's missing headphone jack. Pretty silly.
I just want to play good games with buttons, triggers and thumb sticks. The kind of games I enjoy playing do not benefit from these comedy, novelty party game controls.

March 2017 - but we don't know the price tag yet.
Everyone's betting on $400 though (which makes me fear for the specs)
I wouldn't worry too much about it. A PC that meets the minimum spec for VR is only $500 to build now, and that'll get you way beyond 1080p@60. Nvidia's Shield TV is only $225, and it's a solid machine even despite being on the much older Tegra X1 chip. My bet's on Switch being stronger than the WiiU, maybe not quite as strong as first-revision XB1 or PS4. At least when docked.

Definitely interested if it can function as a full android tablet packed with Nintendo hardcore games

It won't have android, but a custom Nintendo OS. This OS will obviously be extremely limited, to avoid the possibility of hacking it. Nintendo cares first and foremost for anti-piracy, they even ruined the N64 and the Gamecube by choosing different/niche game medium options out of piracy fears.

Hmmm.... It looks ugly to me and has some questionable design choices....

Looks like they abandoned features that were interesting.

Lost is the dual screen functionality of the 3ds and the wiiu as you cannot both connect to a tv and use the system screen at the same time. And from the trailer it looks like it has only one controller per system.

From what I can see so far it's not a wiiu replacement but a 3ds replacement. Hoping there is more features they forgot to unveil but as it stands its quite lackluster

Perhaps they will make another trailer showing us something amazing like connecting to the 3ds and wiiu to let us play any of the 3 systems games using any combination of the 3 for unparralleled synergy being a true 3rd to their current situation

Also.... Hopefully it has multitouch cuz they kinda forgot to feature that in the video
