ok so? can't people attempt to get this app/service attempt or even get it back? Yes I do agree most of the streaming services for Wii are crappy but still
Obviously, is not archived. I wish that somebody could've archived this URL before May 2017, YouTube made an announcement about the shutdown or before the channel had shutdown in the 27th of June. Also, the leanbacklite v3 is just a layout and a frontend.
This leanback is not the same, there's another leanback which is called "leanbacklite_wii.swf" which was in this original url that can be found in the common.pcf in the "config" folder in the 02.app U8 archive from the YouTube channel.
I got a few questions about the post. Just want to ask because I'm curious.
1. If you do know the link for the original SWF (leanbacklite_wii.swf) do you know any place or anyone that has it?
2. Is there a .APP unpacker I can use? U8Tool doesnt work.
3. I noticed the loading bar didnt bother working. Is that gonna attempt to be fixed?
By the way I am pretty glad you got it running!
Also I've created a list thats required for what we need to add.
-Add Youtube API (or RiiTube API) to the SWF
-Create a website to DOWNLOAD the SWF to memory
-Figure out how to get the sign in and whatever working
-Create a patched YT Channel WAD
Thats pretty much if its just straightforward.

Oh yeah also, I believe the newer file (the one you gave me) was pretty much the same as the 2017 one. Mainly due to the fact that most of the file name is the same AND that v3 would already have been there during 2017.
Only difference was this one is a template (which is why it has that HD button).

Good point about the API. How would we get it to work though..
All I know is that the API is a .xml file, so who knows. (Wait cant we just copy the link onto the SWF and replace the current existing API strings [if it exists]?)
And yes, I still think the .SWF is the same as the Wii's version due to:
1. The _v3 at the end (YouTube would've switched to v3 by that time).
2. The same leanbacklite at the start.
Only difference is this one is a template, which is why it has the HD button.
Although on that point..
The SWF seems to be fine when not downloaded from the YouTube App. Maybe just leave it in the YouTube app as a inject?
And another topic on the SWF, I need to find a software to try edit it (and insert the API inside.)
Hey! I think if you dig threw the YouTube Wii files from a sd card you might find enough code to make a website or external server it can connect to which has maybe a few test videos and see if that works MAYBE I'm not so sure tho.

well maybe MAYBE I don't think this will even work nor be easy but what if you try to make a patched YouTube Wii .wad file to connect to a server with one video link as a test and make make the server redirect the Wii to the YouTube link I don't know if this will work and I think this won't work but it will be worth to give a try but I don't think it will work tho I'm just giving suggestions but I don't know this will work or not I think it won't tho
It will work but you need a dedicated mirror server and a lot of bandwith if you want proper video visualizations; in fact, that was the idea behind the WiiMC alternative for youtube playback.

Maybe we could see if the pretendo network has any useful info, their trying YouTube Wii U its in like beta BETA it just started a few months back in either sep - oct 2022 was when it started BUT the problem with that is the website YouTube Wii U used was the same Roku, fire tv/sticks, and smart tv's/dvds or smart bluray players use unlike the wii's website.

Somehow the leanbacklite swf works on a Nokia! However, searching just leaves it on Loading... and no recommeneded. It also asks for some gdata.youtube.com thing
Not sure if this is the old thread or what, but I have an idea. And yes, it is probably going to be one that sounded better in my head.
Would it be possible to make a lite version of YouTube that runs on the Wii (website), then it fetches data (search results, video and audio data, etc etc) from that website, and plays on the Wii? When this idea came into my mind, the first thing that came into my brain was this website: https://youtube-lite.js.org/#/
Somehow to use that or something like that or..?

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
