    2.5D is such an overused term - and incorrectly so. 3D is just 3D - 2.5D are engines that cast 2D images in such a fashion that they seem 3D. Mode7 games are a good example, or Wolfenstein/Doom/Duke Nukem 3D. 3D is based on models, it's as simple as that.

    It is an overused term, but 2.5D is what the Sonic 4Ep2 is marketed as. Lost World is being marketed as a fully fledged 3D portable Sonic game.
