soo, about that may 2023 nso update...

OK, i don't have a switch, nor do i pay for switch online.
BUT, if i were to add some new gba games, i would add stuff like, idk, wario land 4 (wario's greatest achievement and rightfully so), kirby amazing mirror (it IS amazing, the multiplayer especially would be crazy since nso now has online play) and, hey, why not nightmare in dream land too (great kirbys adventure remake with tons of improvements and extras like multiplayer). wario ware twisted (maybe add in the motion controls again in order to have an ACTUALLY playable version of the game for once instead of tilting an entire gamecube around), mario vs donkey kong, and, hmmm, mAYBE SOME POKEMON GAMES?? I'm not even a pokemon fan but I KNOW that nso SHOULD have at LEAST a couple of them.

But instead we get the first 3 mario advance games. Now, for people who grew up with them, great! Otherwise, man, what a complete waste of 3 game slots that could possibly go to better games.
Mario advance 4, yes, it has the e-reader levels that can't be accessed anywhere else, it gets the pass, but the 3 others as well? I mean, mario advance 1? You have the all stars version on SNES. Mario advance 2? Same thing; you have the snes version. Mario advance 3? Yep same. WHICH SNES versions btw can be played WITHOUT the expansion pack, sooo what the hell? I mean, yeah, it has lots of extras like the yoshi coins in mario advance 2 being an ACTUAL collectible, or the A coins in mario advance 1, or the secret levels in mario advance 3. But idk man getting the same games you can get with a cheaper plan is kinda stupid.

But I'm a sucker for GBA in general so f whatever I said above.

(Also, amazing news, the 2DS volume slider is finallY FIXED YESSSSSSSS)

Unfortunately, it seems Nintendo has had a problem securing third party support, so almost everything now seems to be first and second party. I guess part of the problem is that a lot of old companies no longer exist or it's anyone's guess who owns the rights to some of them.

ik, but every game i mentioned above is first/second party, they could bring those back easily.
But, yeah, big f's for the third party games.

part of the problem is that a lot of old companies no longer exist
they released mario & luigi superstar saga, a game from alphadream, which doesn't exist anymore since they went bankrupt in 2019. (although i THINK nintendo quickly snatched the licenses at the last second but idk i'm probably making this up)

Do I understand this correctly?
To use this, one has to:
  • Buy a Switch
  • Pay permanently for online services
  • Life with the risk of a ban if modding the Switch (or study a shitload of rules to keep hacked EmuNAND and stock SysNAND apart)
and all this to get access to heavily DRM infected, emulated GBA games

If anybody needs a definition of masochism: ↑↑↑↑↑↑ Here you go. ↑↑↑↑↑↑
============

I could just pull the games out of my physical collection bypassing all of the above nonsense.

lel exactly.
My best guess for why they're doing... WHATEVER they're doing is because they don't think of the long-time nintendo players, they only think of the ppl who never played nintendo and their first console is the switch and they wouldn't know any better.

But then again, even if you're a nintendo newcomer, you KNOW that these pricing plans are feckin' ATTROCIOUS.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: It is really cool how they managed to do this. Hopefully we get a fully hacked XBox One by next... +1
