Hello Guys,

I repaired another OLED switch, this time a Zelda edition, but in sleep mode the joycons are jiggling and the battery is draining like hell.

What I already tried:
- I swapped the MB in another oled console and its the same,
- same with another joycons,
- same with different modship (instinct nx and picofly),
- same in CFW or OFW,
- same if I restore the emmc,
- same in airplane mode.

This is what I repaired on this console:
- broken CLK line
- screen connector replaced
- permanent dat0, I reballed 3 times the emmc to try to get rid of this issue
- CMD resistor replaced

On this console the instinct-nx was taking a lot of time to gitch the console, so I replaced it by a Picofly.

But to not have a slow emmc mode I had to add +47ohms on the CMD point, and +3x47ohms on the dat0 point.

I did maybe 30 oled modchips, with only picoflys. Usually I only add +47ohms on the CLK point to not have a emmc slow mode.

I find nothing on internet about this issue.

What could cause this issue ?

Thank you 🙏🏻

What do you mean the JoyCons are jiggling?

Hello,

Yes everything is working regarding the joycons.

But I noticed something, If I launch Lakka, when I turn off the switch (sleep mode), the switch wakes up few seconds after. Maybe on the switch OS the console is partialy in sleep mode. I mean, the OLED screen is off etc... but not the Tegra or something else. Cos if I put the switch in sleep mode, the APU is a bit warm even after few hours, really noticeable if the console is in his case.

I think I have an hardware issue. Which controller is managing the sleep mode ? I would like to replace it.

Hi, have you checked for shorts beneath the SoC? In Lakka, the Switch can wake itself up if the power button gpio pin is shorted. The joycon issue might be related

I just removed the APU to redo the clk line, it was almost covered by the APU after a nuke bomb on it. And I saw anything broken except the clk. I also rebuilt the cmd line and change an almost broken sp2 capacitor on the APU (could be this).

Im waiting the stencil and some resistors to reball the APU, put a new cmd resistor, change the oled screen connector and it should be good :)

Hope this standby mode will be fixed 😬

About the joycon, even with the sliders disconnected from the main board I had the sleep mode issue.

Hey, I have the exact same problem, I'm looking for a solution too. I too managed to damage the display connector and had to solder a new one. Check if your cooler is spinning when the joycons are connected and the console is sleeping.

Maybe the problem is in the chip next to the EMMC memory, maybe something happened to it from the heat?

My console drains about 7% per hour, in sleep mode

Start the game so the ventilators start spinning. Close the game and lock the console. watch the fan, if it does not stop spinning then disconnect the joycons. But I'm sure we have 100% the same problem, we need to unite and find a solution. We need measurements of all the major components from a working board.

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

I only drank alcohol once and it was by accident

I didnt know it was beer, it was on a juice bottle

Yeah, I'm addicted to smoking, sadly. It's very addictive but I wish I didn't start.

@Xdqwerty, No, but I've seen it on Vinesauce's stream.

@SylverReZ, that game is one of the reasons i met newgrounds bc the full versión of it is in that site

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.

So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)

@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made

Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
