I understand their overall end-goal is to try and make "Windows as a service" happen, and that they're dragging it out because of Enterprise users.Yes, It is. But this is Bad for users, because many people can't update their PC so fast.

Remember Windows 10 S? I really think that it'll be "Windows Basic" at one point with "Windows Premium", for $10/month, being the normal Windows w/o restrictions.I understand their overall end-goal is to try and make "Windows as a service" happen, and that they're dragging it out because of Enterprise users.
Just now I set for a client 150 "Cloud Workstations" a set of virtual desktops running on the cloud and the client have a dumb terminal, only a screen a keyboard and a Mouse with network connection so NO SOFTWARE is run on the physical devices all is run on the cloud servers...I understand their overall end-goal is to try and make "Windows as a service" happen, and that they're dragging it out because of Enterprise users.
Ive been waiting for some form of windows 12 (just to see), but yeah with all of the copilot+ and recall trash...its not looking good.F**k windows 11. F**king windows 12 will just be owrse
1 year later and this hasn't changedBet it’s going to be even more riddled with ads, anti-customization, and forced bullshit. Glad I haven’t used Windows since 2006
I will need to build a new PC before October 2025, unless I go full Linux but some games I play doesn't work well with Linux because of the stupid anti-cheats not having supportThey're finally going to force me off 10, aren't they?
The annoying thing is certain anti-cheat software has been updated to support linux but some game devs either refuse to update to it or purposefully disable Linux support.I will need to build a new PC before October 2025, unless I go full Linux but some games I play doesn't work well with Linux because of the stupid anti-cheats not having support
i'll be switching to linux with a windows 10 dual boot on a single 1tb ssd for the few games that don't work on linux tbhI will need to build a new PC before October 2025, unless I go full Linux but some games I play doesn't work well with Linux because of the stupid anti-cheats not having support
Honestly, no reason to move away from Windows 10 even after end of support, at least until a major flaw/exploit is discovered. I'm just hoping that SteamOS desktop edition is available by then, if not I'll install KDE Plasma on top of Arch to more or less mirror the experience myself. I only worry a bit about the Nvidia GPU drivers for Linux not being very good.i'll be switching to linux with a windows 10 dual boot on a single 1tb ssd for the few games that don't work on linux tbh
yeah i'm sticking to windows 10 for as long as i can, i'm mostly waiting for 4TB ssds to no longer cost $600 a pop here so i can finally replace my last 2 rotary HDDs and downsize my entire pc, which is when i'll switchHonestly, no reason to move away from Windows 10 even after end of support, at least until a major flaw/exploit is discovered. I did used Windows XP 15 years later of EoL. (even I have a Virtual machine which use in regular bases)Honestly, no reason to move away from Windows 10 even after end of support, at least until a major flaw/exploit is discovered. Technically Windows XP EoL wasn't until 2014, and Windows 7 had been out for five years by that point. Both great operating systems in their own right.I did used Windows XP 15 years later of EoL. (even I have a Virtual machine which use in regular bases)
zero day... yeah if major flaw is discovered by good people then you're fine, if it's discovered by bad people then you don't know until you're already in troubleHonestly, no reason to move away from Windows 10 even after end of support, at least until a major flaw/exploit is discovered.
Don't worry, it'll be around here in 2025 or something like that. Although I don't want to believe in rumors because rumors are almost game fake and I hate being based on them.I like how this thread got revived again despite the fact we're 8 months into 2024 now and Windows 12 hasn't been announced yet.
