Which game would you say poses the biggest risk to killing early model PS3s?

The Last of Us? Gran Turismo 6?

I Wouldn’t really say it would kill the system but Family Guy video game for ps2 might be a risky one, the game randomly crashes (doesn’t freeze the system) the game has brightness issues which means the screen is really bright mostly in cutscenes but also in gameplay and there is some graphical glitches too. Unsurprisingly for a model that plays the games with real ps2 hardware and yes it was on a CECHA01and it was only this game that had the issues, no other games i have tried did any of this although Billy and Mandy might have the same issues due to a huge amount of similarities and literally being by the same developer, but I didn’t test that one

IIRC, the issue with those old consoles was the solder being faulty as was often found on 2000s computers. Therefore any game that would cause a newer PS3's fans to kick up would add more stress to the faulty solder, as well as more mundane activities such as:
  • Leaving the PS3 on for an extended period of time
  • Operating the PS3 in a poorly ventilated environment
  • Hell, even running the PS3 at all puts extra stress on the faulty solder
Overall if you're AT ALL worried I'd get it fixed before using it. It's already an epic quest to fix them BEFORE they break, let alone after

Properly maintained? (i.e., all dust cleaned and thermal paste replaced in the last year) - All games should be fine
Not properly maintained? Even leaving it at XMB could kill it

One of my full BC PS3s (the A model) is apparently an OEM "frankie" so that one is probably fine.

The other 3 have just been cleaned and delidded so far (two Bs and an E). They still have their stock computational components. My non-full BC PS3s (an L01 and a 2101A, which are my "regular" PS3s anyway) haven't had any work done on them at all but I think they're fine as-is (or at least no hurry since their risk of frying themselves is considerably lower).

Both The Last of Us and Gran Turismo 6 are demanding on early PS3 models, but The Last of Us is often seen as more taxing due to its heavy graphics and system load. It's known to increase the risk of overheating or YLOD on older models, especially if they haven't been well-maintained. While researching decision-making strategies, I looked for examples on how to assess risk in various situations. I came across https://www.topessaywriting.org/samples/risk where I found essay samples that broke down the concept of risk, covering topics from finance to everyday life. These essays gave me a clearer understanding of how risk influences choices and outcomes in different contexts.

Same goes with Portal 2, it ran like shit on my 2007 CECHA01 phat and would not start, The Last of Us ran just fine however and it didn't do two of those things you said to mine, the temperature and everything else is still the same
