Do all cartridges have a certificate file for going online?
That should be correct. As long as you do a full dump of the cartridge correctly, you should get all the .bin files you need to put on your MIG Switch card in order for game to work properly. Just make sure to follow the folder and naming guidelines on their official website.

I just bought a mig switch and wanted to ask some questions, hopefully it does not matter if they have been answered before since It tried searching and all I found were people just talking about it without any kind of real world testing
1. Has anyone been banned or heard of someone being banned from using a mig switch online with a widespread dump of a game?
2. Does the certificate each cartidge has has any kind of link to the game so nintendo knows its exactly that game?
3. Would using a certificate from my own cartidges and some "borrowed" game have any kind of "protection" against bans if nintendo tries to mass ban people at some point?
4. Has anyone tried to dump cartidges of games that have DLCs on them or do they come with a code? and if the dlc are in the cartidge do they work on mig switch?
I know some of those questions may not have answers yet but wanted to ask anyway since I found no answers online for the ban ones since people just talk about nintendo being able to ban people if they use a game online with the same certificate as a game someone else is playing online at the same time but just talked about it as a possibility and I understand it being the case but want to try to use it in a way that it becomes difficult for nintendo to ban my console using other cartidge certificates since I have some of them lying around and will never play online with those(since they are not online games)

1. Yes, there was at least one case. That person simply put the publicly available dump on their MIG Switch and that was all they did.
2. If you want to go online with it, it has to have a valid certificates for that game. Otherwise, for offline stuff, you can use certificates from a donor card. Provided that certificate files are from the same game, there shouldn't be a problem as long as there are no two instances running at the same time.
3. Maybe. No one knows for sure.
4. I haven't heard of a game cartridge having a DLC on it. Cartridge dumps can be modified, but modified XCIs require sigpatches in order to, work which aren't available on unmodded console.

I know some examples: Cuphead + DLC [0100A5C00D162000], Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet + 11 DLC [01009CC00C97C000], It Takes Two + 2 DLC [010092A0172E4000], Minecraft Dungeons + 7 DLC [01006C100EC08000], Rain on Your Parade + DLC [0100BDD014232000], SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off + 2 DLC [01000D3013E8C000], Streets of Rage 4 + DLC [010045E0112D0000], The Battle Cats Unite + 3 DLC [01001E50141BC000], Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate + DLC [0100E8500AD58000] and so one. All of them are especially for MIG Switch, i.e. in untrimmed .XCI + .BIN fileformat.

Fun fact rain on your parade is also bundled with an unreleased update. I can no longer play my digital version since it gives me an update game prompt but said update isn’t on the severs. Just the cart

Seems like the the first versions of UnlockSwitch will be sold for $29.90, as a result of the poll they've made on their Twitter account.
Also, it seems that they've started working on their own version of dumper, called the eXtractor.

Honestly, Unlock Switch is making so many promises i'm skeptical. If it's all real then of course that's good. That price is more in line of what this type of flashcard is worth.
Same. I'll probably end up buying UnlockSwitch once it's released, but maybe after some more reviews. From what I've seen, it works just like a MIG Switch, not better, not worse. The first version of it, at least.

Just a minor correction all reported MIG bans so far the people have been found doing other sketchy things

Like spoofing gold points, or just only have 3 of the files. I know nothing is certain and no one can no for sure

But between this, it seems likely it’s safe as long as you don’t cut corners

okay based on recent conversation, things are suddenly unclear for me--Can you or can you not get online if you're using a donor cert file? it feels like there are contradictory answers here suddenly

if I got it correct, you can not go online with donor certs. Going online is only safe if you have the full dump of the cartridge. With donor certs, I believe that you can only download updates and play offline and that's pretty much it.

Not sure how true it is but i've been told but even just updating, if you have a donor cert, nintendo will eventually find out since you're going online to download update. Its just a matter of time before you get banned, and then you won't be able to update any games. Meaning you'll be stuck with the base game, whetever state the base game is.

My friend that told me does have the migswitch, so not 100% if that happed to him or not.

Ive seen online complete files of games that includes everything needed to use on migswitch. But a lot of games that are on cartridges need updates, so once your switch is banned, games that need updates will be kinda useless. Or at will be at the worst version of the game.

You can go online with donor certs. No one knows how long they will last till ban. But if you’re using publicly shared ones you’re asking for trouble

This isn’t a rule or proof by any means buuuut I’ve been sharing certs with my roommate without issue. But that’s only one share and not hundreds

I myself almost bought one, but because what ive beed reading i'm holding off to see what "unlock switch" can offer. Maybe they can offer a way to install other files like nsp, making updating easier. Been following them and they are promising open source, so maybe even if they can't offer that, the homebrew community can find a way to do it.

They won’t have a way to use NSP or homebrew files. Don’t hold your breath

I already have a V1 switch so too worried if homebrew is not possible. The main thing i'm hoping is a way to update games by update files and not having to update through nintendo. I don't want having a unmodded OLED switch that is banned, that means it will be almost be useless with games that need updates.

Between me and my wife we have two V1 switches, mine being banned and it sucks cause I can't even update offical game carts. The only thing keeping me fro selling it, is it can play homebrew like emulators.
