Nintendo takes down Gmod content from Steam's Workshop

header.jpg

Nintendo might just as well be a law firm more than a videogame company at this point in time, since they have yet again issued their now almost trademarked usual DMCA strike, this time against mods in the Steam Workshop for on the most popular Half Life 2 mod, Garry's mod (or Gmod as it's usually referred to).

The news broke out yesterday, on April 24th, as Garry Newman announced that he would be taking down all Nintendo-related items gathered and made throughout almost 20 years since the inception of Garry's Mod back in the mid 2000s from the Workshop due to a DMCA by Nintendo.
This caused speculation online, as it has been known that often some people completely unrelated to Nintendo send false DMCA strikes for projects that might contain Nintendo assets of any kind (with some of those falsely made strikes sent by a person named Aaron Peters), and Newman was made known about it, with a research about the source of the sent-DMCA strike begun shortly after.

However, in a recently made post by Newman himself, he stated that "the takedowns have been verified by Nintendo as legit", so the removal of Nintendo's items from the Workshop will continue as announced in his post from April 24th.

This is yet another instance of a fan project being taken down by Nintendo, and it's unlikely this is gonna end anytime soon given their increasingly aggressive abuse of the DMCA for anything fan-related.

nah, nintendo is doing this on a pretty regular bases. they just enjoy bullying. thats all.
I mean, they've done stuff in the past, I'm not denying that. What I am saying right now though is that since 2021 with Metroid Dread up till 2023 with TotK people have been playing the games on emulator at least a few days to a week before release and it seems the past year it really has gotten worse as they are just firing in all directions at this point.
I mean really, 20 or so years with Gmod and NOW is when they're attacking it?

Seems weird that it could actually be Nintendo, tbh, but it's not like they're incapable of doing this kind of shit.

They hate their fans and we will never say it enough.

I'm kinda shocked it took this long. They targeted a lot of smaller things but didn't go for one of the biggest until now.

Good. That's how people should be feeling towards Nintendo since they started doing all this shit.
Hopefully this gets to more and more people and this starts biting them in the ass in sales later on.
We all know that won't happen. These past 6 years have been some of the most successful in their history.

Only difference is Apple's console was a complete commercial failure.

Disney, Apple and Nintendo are like the demoniacal trifecta of their respective industries.
I couldn't said it better myself. Thanks Shadow!

My best answer for this whole situation is simple:

OOH one mor thing. You compared Nintendo with Apple and Disney, but we've forgot about Ferrari.
Ferrari and Nintendo work (kinda) literally the same way, their products are really good, but their administrative part is horrible. Always suing everyone who makes everything about them

Ferrari is kinda out of my league, and I think most other people as well lol
But in terms of media entertainment, it's always those 3 that are assholes towards their fans and the costumer.
